Manager, Cloud Operations

We’re looking for a Manager, Cloud Operations to lead the evolution of our cloud platform and manage it on a day-to-day basis. Reporting to the Director, Infrastructure, Data, and Operations, you will have accountability for all aspects of our cloud infrastructure, lead a team of Cloud Engineers and Administrators, and take our cloud platform operations to new heights!

What You’ll Do

• Contribute to the design of the Avanti cloud platform in collaboration with Product, Development and Enterprise Architecture groups
• Understand, define and measure Avanti’s service and goals, as they pertain to cloud platform capabilities
• Own budget forecasting and cost management for our SaaS platform, driving increased efficiencies and cloud margin
• Collaborate with Development / DevOps to optimize our deployment cadence and reliability
• Be responsible for enabling our next generation cloud native products and applications
• Run the commercial cloud platform day-to-day, balancing the need for stability with the desire for fast iteration
• Own key elements of our InfoSec program, such as facilitating penetration and vulnerability testing, disaster recovery, business continuity, and capacity planning
• Provide final tier customer support for complex technical integration issues

Who We’re Looking For

• Fundamental understanding of Cloud automation, native architecture, and using Terraform (or equivalent) to enable Infrastructure as a Code
• Proven experience driving and project managing innovative technical transformation programs
• Expertise with building and operating a broad range of cloud technologies including VMs, containers, firewalls, databases with a Windows / .Net focus
• Knowledge of CI/CD Systems
• Confidence and ability to lead discussions with clear goals, deliverables, documented agreements and follow up actions
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Automation (e.g. Terraform or Ansible, but other equivalent technologies are fine), and cloud providers (Azure experience is a bonus)
• Experience supporting cloud native solutions made up of IaaS and PaaS services
• Ability to collaborate and empathize with downstream teams
• People management and team leadership experience
• Experience and knowledge of Operating Systems including Windows and Linux
• Expertise in building and improving observability tooling (ELK, New Relic, Datadog, Dynatrace, Grafana)
• Experience managing a public cloud, running enterprise applications and supporting services
• Experience supporting with monitoring and backup services
• Experience working within one of the big three public cloud platforms - AWS, GCP or Microsoft Azure Azure is ideal
• Ability to participate and lead Scrum Agile process in conjunction with fast-paced Development and Site Reliability teams
• Experience with implementing and enforcing compliance standards

Bonus points for:

• Experience with achieving SOC1, SOC2 attestation, as well as ITIL service management or similar frameworks
