Are you a maintenance professional who is looking for more meaning in your work?

PARC Retirement Living is an award-winning developer and operator of independent senior-living communities. We’re seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join our Summerhill PARC team in North Vancouver.

About Working At PARC

PARC communities are made for active seniors; inspiring spaces where our residents come to live well and engage with a vibrant community of like-minded people. Each of our residences is purpose-designed to give residents the freedom to live independently, nurturing their physical and mental well-being.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you are a caretaker of this vision, responsible for a variety of maintenance activities, plus handyman services for our residents. This includes:

  • Assisting with suite preparation for turnover, including carpet cleaning, painting, furniture moving and other tasks.
  • Supporting the Building Services Manager as needed, including responding to emergency situations.
  • Performing maintenance services such as cleaning, painting, plastering, snow removal, minor repairs, basic plumbing and electrical work within established timeframes.
  • Helping to ensure the overall safety and cleanliness of the building.
  • Responding to residents’ maintenance requests (work orders) in a timely and professional manner.

The perks of PARC Hospitality

  • A supportive, diverse team and training opportunities. We believe in giving our people opportunities to advance wherever we can.
  • Refreshments while you work. PARC’s chef-prepared cuisine rivals the best in BC, and we offer subsidized daily meals and beverages to employees.
  • Meaningful work. How many hospitality jobs can say that? At PARC, you’ll be making a positive difference in seniors’ lives, each and every day.
  • High-value benefits. We offer Extended Health, Dental, Life, AD&D and Disability Insurance, plus an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), to help protect your health, family and way of life. Plus: birthdays off with pay, parental top-ups and much more!
  • Flexible hours and location. We’re open to scheduling when and where it works for you – with guaranteed shifts every week. PARC has five great locations across the Lower Mainland.

It takes a special kind of person to work here – does this sound like you?

  • You are a critical thinker who is responsive and priority-sensitive; able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • You have a high school diploma and a minimum of three years’ relevant experience in the hotel or senior-living industry.
  • You are a pleasant and upbeat professional who brings positive energy to work each day.
  • You understand and respect the needs of seniors, their families, and and other professional services engaged with our residents.
  • You have a background in plumbing, electrical, heating, painting, basic carpentry and janitorial work, as well as with building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair. Knowledge of mechanical systems and operations would be an asset, as well.
  • You have successfully completed WHMIS, and possess a Facility Management or Class 5 Power Engineering certification. Completion of Building Services Worker Program is an asset, too.
  • You have a basic understanding of physical plant operations, maintenance and trouble-shooting of major systems.

At PARC Retirement Living we understand the importance of immunization to protect our residents, team members and visitors from COVID-19. As such, a prerequisite of employment is that all new hires are fully vaccinated as approved by Health Canada. We also require a Criminal Record Check, and a TB test within the first month of employment.
