About the Role
The Laboratory Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting Virica’s external and internal project activities.This position allows for exposure to both the scientific and operational functioning of the laboratory. Due to Virica’s current rapid growth mode, this position will be subject to re-location to another local Virica owned facility sometime in 2024. More details will be shared during the interview process.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
·Perform routine internal maintenance of laboratory equipment.
·Perform basic laboratory tasks as per protocols provided.
·Responsible for the maintenance and passaging of cell lines.
·Maintaining inventories for all consumables and reagents.
·Assisting with activities related to inventory management.
·Assists with the aliquoting and shipment of internal materials to relevant parties.
·Performs other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications/Skills:
·Completion of BSc or College program.
·Strong mammalian tissue culture experience.
·The ability to prioritize, self-manage and work in a deadline-oriented environment.
·Exhibit strong attention to detail.
·Have a strong proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Asset Qualifications/skills:
·Must be able to quickly learn required technical skills.
·Must have good oral and written communication skills.
·Fluency in English is required.
·Must be able to work independently and as a member of the team.
·Must have good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize.
·Must be able to operate automated equipment and computerized workstations.
·Must show attention to detail and the ability to perform detailed documentation in an accurate and legible manner.
·Good problem-solving skills are required.
Working Conditions:
The successful candidate will be required to work at the Virica laboratory in Ottawa, Ontario, in addition to available office space, or at such other locations as may be mutually agreeable. The Employee shall supply their own mobile phone. Virica will provide a laptop and required computer software for the duration of the employment term.
Travel
The candidate may be on occasion required to travel for training purposes or for company-wide events.
