Job Description
Responsibilities include application of knowledge of regulations, policies, protocols and/or procedures to control and maintain accurate records; accurate and efficient computer data entry with routine verification checks and identification of data discrepancies; ability to screen, group, summarize, transcribe, etc. a large volume of information; solve operational/data problems in consultation with clinical teams; maintain confidentiality of data as required; general/clerical responsibilities include data collection, entry, organize and maintain basic databases and prepare various clinical teams related tracking reports, provide support to clinical teams regarding weekly database updating, generation of reports and transmission of relevant information/reports to all parties, scheduling related meetings, presentation of outcomes data at monthly huddle, identify opportunities for Quality Improvement through data analysis and trend identification, and other duties as assigned.


  • Previous experience with CNN, BORN, SPS, Meditech, Sovera, RSVP/DMS, Newborn Screening
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Associates Degree or diploma in a Health discipline
  • Proficiency in MS Access, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro, Excel

Unit Summary


The Data Management Team supports the McMaster Children’s Hospital (MCH) including the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Level 2 Nursery, the Children’s Acute Care inpatient and outpatient clinical areas. The Data Management Team is a small team of professionals that support MCH needs for collecting, storing, reporting, and benchmarking locally, provincially, nationally and internationally. These data bases are fundamental to monitoring patient outcomes and provide a foundation for quality improvement initiatives and research to further the science of neonatal and pediatric care.


Schedule Work Hours


Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours/week
