The Role
The successful applicant will be a part of BGC's software development team working alongside world class engineers and geoscientists to develop safety critical software applications. Apply your software development knowledge to build robust applications that monitor potential geological hazards and risks in real-time. The candidate will have the opportunity to conquer unique challenges developing web applications using a state of the art geographical information system with cloud infrastructures. This position can be based in Vancouver or Calgary office locations and is a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities

• Work on features from beginning to end. Help refine User Stories by gathering requirements from stakeholders. Develop software using best in class tools and industry best practices. Be responsible for testing software you've written manually and through automation scripts. Take part in releasing the software into production
• Integrate features with a cross-platform mobile application developed with Xamarin for offline use in the field
• Be an integral part of the software team. Work alongside our more seasoned team members in a collaborative Scrum/Agile environment
• Develop enterprise geohazard management web application using the React framework and Esri ArcGIS
• Stay curious and keep an open mind for new technologies and ideas

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

• You have experience with databases such as MS SQL, MySQL
• You are comfortable with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, or equivalent
• You love to be challenged and have the willingness to adapt to future technology
• You have experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• You have a degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent
