Job Description

: Junior Inventory Control Person (Building and Tool Construction Industry)

Position Overview:

As a Junior Inventory Control Person in the Building and Tool Construction Industry, you will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining inventory levels of building materials, tools, and equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the coordination of inventory activities, monitor stock levels, perform inventory counts, and ensure accurate and efficient inventory control processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Management:
  • Collaborate with senior inventory control personnel to develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records of inventory levels, including stock on hand, stock movements, and replenishment needs.
  • Monitor inventory levels regularly to ensure optimal stock availability while minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
  1. Inventory Replenishment:
  • Coordinate with procurement or purchasing department to place orders for materials, tools, and equipment to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Track and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery and avoid stockouts.
  • Assist in forecasting inventory needs based on historical data, sales projections, and upcoming projects.
  1. Inventory Tracking and Reporting:
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, stock movement patterns, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Utilize inventory management systems or software to update inventory records and generate accurate reports.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts to verify stock levels and reconcile any discrepancies.
  1. Documentation and Record-Keeping:
  • Assist in maintaining accurate and complete product descriptions, specifications, and other relevant details in the inventory system.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date inventory documentation, including purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, and delivery receipts.
  1. Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with team members to streamline inventory control processes and identify areas for enhanced efficiency.
  • Communicate inventory-related issues, stock shortages, and discrepancies to the appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with various internal departments, such as project management, warehouse, and sales, to ensure smooth inventory operations.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proficiency in using computer applications, such as spreadsheets and word processing software.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems or software is beneficial (e.g., ERP systems, barcode scanning).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with numbers accurately.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required; additional education or certification in supply chain management or inventory control is a plus.
  • Previous experience in inventory control, warehousing, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory for a junior role.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for clear and concise interaction with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
