Gosai Law Professional Corporation is a law firm located in Etobicoke, Ontario and practices in the areas of personal injury, Family Law, Will & Estates ad Real Estate Law .
We are currently seeking a confident and experiences financial professional that is able to apply their financial background to the overall financial management of the firm.Gosai Law offers a team environment, competitive compensation, benefits and the ability to work remotely 2 days a week.
Reporting to the Managing Partner, this role will be responsible for various tasks related to accounts payable, vendor management, cheque processing, expense reimbursements, credit card transactions, and general accounting support. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and responsibilities
- Perform all data entry of cash receipts and client costs in billing and accounting systems.
- Performs all client billing functions and other accounts receivable functions.
- Coordinates with external accountants, including preparation of year-end financial documents and attends to all communication with accountants.
- Maintains all accounting and financial records of Gosai Law including the general accounts, trust accounts, cash management, accounts receivable/payable, collections, corporate expenditures and summary financial statements.
- Process hard costs disbursements, by posting them to the matter and making sure payment is arranged.
- Prepares and manages the distribution of annual reports for all trust accounts.
- Prepares and reconciles filing of all transaction levies and submits payments to the Law Society.
- Preforms bank reconciliations monthly.
- Pay vendor bills and manage accounts payable.
- Special projects as assigned.
- Prepare financial statements for reporting on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.
- Other duties as required.
- Manages banking relationships.
- Reports on subledger and general ledger reconciliations, trust history reports and reconciliations and the investigation of variance analysis details.
- Perform all data entry of cash receipts and disbursements for the trust account in the accounting systems.
- Processes payroll and remits statutory payments.
- Manages wire payments, EFT, bank deposits, client cheques and credit card transactions.
- Provides analysis, interpretation, and projections to the Managing Partners, as required.
Requirements and skills
- Knowledge of Legal Accounting
- Intelligent business acumen, able to understand what’s important for our business and act accordingly.
- Familiarity with credit card reconciliations and general accounting procedures.
- Competency in MS Office and Database management.
- Hands on experience with PCLaw and Quick books
- Knowledge of accounts payable processes and vendor management.
- Real Estate accounting experience considered an asset.
- Understanding of basic accounting principals
- University Degree or College Diploma in Finance and Accounting or a related field.
- Team player who is willing to support the team as needed.
- Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software.
- Focus on accuracy.
- Positive attitude and commitment
- Understanding of banking processes and cheque verification.
- Dedicated individual who is willing to learn and take on new challenges.
- 1-4 years’ experience in Accounting Environment withing a law firm.
- Experience in legal environment or professional services considered an asset.
