Investment Banking Associate
DNA Capital a national independent investment bank of 30+ experienced M&A professionals with offices in Montreal and Toronto (through partnership with Morrison Park Advisors) specializing in M&A transactions and private placements, while also having some targeted activities in the private equity space and alternative asset management.
Position Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- At least 3 years of relevant experience as an analyst or associate in M&A, corporate finance, financial due diligence, valuations or restructuring, or other similar financial position
- Strong data management and research skills
- Strong quantitative and technical / computer skills (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Strong teamwork skills and leadership
- Intellectually curious
- Team player, self-motivated and entrepreneurial
- Ability to perform under deadline pressure
- Major in Finance, Accounting, Business or Economics
- Strong work ethic and a drive for perfection
Relevant work experience at an investment bank or in a financial advisory/corporate finance department (accounting firm or other) is mandatory/essential. Strong quantitative, writing and interpersonal skills are required. Successful candidate will be very comfortable working in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Holding titles such as CPA, CFA or CBV (completed or ongoing) is an asset. Experience working with CapitalIQ/FactSet is an asset. Financial modelling training (Wall Street Prep, Marquee Group, etc.) is an asset. We take a very team-oriented approach to investment banking, and therefore reflects our focus on team chemistry in our hiring process.
Daily tasks:
(i) prepare and review financial analyses and models
(ii) conduct due diligence investigations of client companies
(iii) prepare detailed memorandums and presentations describing the key attributes of client companies
(iv) research potential buyers/investors and
(viii) support team members in business development and administrative tasks
Successful candidates will be given the opportunity to:
- Both originate and execute deals and cover all types of products including M&A, equity, equity-linked and debt and principal investing
- Increase his knowledge of financing solutions, including structuring (both debt and equity), accounting and tax expertise, financial modeling and analysis.
- Generate unbiased, meaningful advice and dialog with a cross section of companies within various industries
