Intermediate Power Electronics Engineer

Legend Power Systems is seeking a dynamic individual to add to the success of our fast-growing team as a full-time Intermediate Power Electronics Engineer.

What You Will Be Responsible For:

• Evaluating technology and component selection with a focus on performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost
• Designing, prototyping, testing, and documenting power conversion products
• Leading development of new circuit topologies
• Executing and documenting product-engineering tasks such as performance, reliability, costing, and design verification & validation testing

What You Need To Do Your Job:

• Experience: minimum 5 years’ experience in power electronics
• Dedication to meeting commitments
• Desire to learn, drive to expand knowledge
• Ability to work with minimal instructions or directions
• Well organized, good time management and ability to work on several concurrent projects
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Good communicator, effective communication and timely information flow is key to this role.
• Education: Electrical Engineering degree (Master’s or PhD considered an asset)
• Development of high power (1kW+) switching power systems and experience with 600VAC systems required

Desirable Assets:

• Ability to simulate switching circuits with PSIM
• Experience designing Power Electronics circuits at 6000VAC up to 250A.
• Working knowledge of new power semiconductors such as GaN and SiC devices
• Excellent documentation and communications skills
• Thermal analysis of power semiconductors
• Ability to perform failure mode analysis on proposed system
• History of writing thorough documentation and technical reports
• Significant experience with magnetic elements including transformers and inductors for power electronics
• Analog circuit design and prototyping
