Job Title:

Electronics Engineer


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the safety, efficiency and effectiveness of the wearable technology
  • Use broad technical skills for the design and development activities of Flutter Care’s wearable technology
  • Perform technical research for new implementations of maternal and fetal health
  • Participate in cross-company meetings as deemed necessary
  • Participate in executing the technology development and cross-functional project tasks
  • Provide documentation and files regarding technology development and other relevant R&D activities sufficient for Flutter Care to further develop and refine the product
  • Develop and execute test methods that specify measurement equipment, test set-up, measurement systems and data review
  • Be able to effectively document and communicate test results.
  • Consult with the relevant technical advisors for guidance on technology development
  • Execute quick turn prototyping, PCB bring-up, debugging, verification testing, and performance characterization of the sensors and wearable technology
  • Design circuits and develop firmware in C/C++


Supervision Plan:

The Electronics Engineer reports to the CEO, Hardware Lead, and technical advisors. The Electronics Engineer will work collaboratively with other technical team members in managing and executing technical projects. Flutter Care is also supported by leading programs such as the Hardware Catalyst Initiative, Canada's only lab and incubator for hardware and semiconductor-focused companies.


Qualifications:

  • Strong ethics, high level of professionalism, and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Understanding of electronic components and how they function in a circuit
  • Resourceful, punctual, and respectful: able to work both independently and in team environments, and willing to seek out support when necessary
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills: proficiency in writing detailed technical reports for product development activities
  • Experience with communication protocols such as HTTP and MQTT
  • Experience using electrical equipment such as an oscilloscope, power supply, multimeter, soldering iron, heat gun, etc
  • Strong background in Electrical or Computer Engineering or relevant field.
  • Solid understanding of computer peripherals such as CAN, SPI, UART, I2C
  • This position is supported by the Innovator Skills Initiative and all eligibility requirements will apply
  • Some understanding of server-side functionality and interactions with Google Firebase
  • Experience using EDA tools such as Altium and KiCad is a strong plus
  • Experience with software design in C/C++ in a multi-threaded environment


Employment Details

  • Location: Most work will be remote, but there will be in-person team meetings at our space in the iconic Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver with a beautiful view of the mountains and ocean!
  • Hours Per Week: 15-30 hours/week (part-time or full-time)
  • Proposed Start Date: June 15, 2023 - October 31, 2023 (with possibility of extension)
