Position Title: Infrastructure and IT Operations Supervisor

Location: Edmonton, AB

Type: Contract (6-months)

The Position

Our Edmonton headquartered client in the financial sector is looking for a contract Infrastructure and IT Operations Supervisor. Reporting to the AVP, Information Technology, you will be responsible for all components of the Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and operational support required by the organization and expected to understand the business and apply information technology to solve business problems and support the business strategy.

What You'll Do

• Monitoring developments in the financial services industry and information technology and recommending opportunities and solutions that correspond to the needs of the Company.
• Ensuring employees have the qualifications and skills to perform their responsibilities.
• Maintaining policies, standards, procedures and a technology environment to ensure the availability, integrity and security of all data, files, application software and all other digital assets.
• Planning & Development
• Providing regular updates to the AVP, Information Technology and other Executive Management on projects and operational issues.
• Ensuring server infrastructure, network operations, security and backup practices are implemented and operate according to policy, standards and procedures.
• Development, testing and maintenance of comprehensive information technology contingency plans for all Company locations.
• Human Resources
• Recruiting new employees.
• Direct supervision of IT Support Analyst.
• Project work, which consists of project management gathering requirements, design, development, testing, training and writing documentation.
• Information technology security including technology, services, monitoring, event response, reporting, training and education.
• Participate in department projects and operations to achieve department and Company objectives.
• Employee development including in-house training and continuing education.
• Risk Management
• Perform the duties of the IT Support Analyst as required to ensure technology is operating effectively and a high-level service is maintained.
• Promoting the effective use of technology across the Company.
• Integration of recovery plans into the Company's Business Continuity Plan.
• Supervising
• Department Operations
• Maintaining relationships with service providers and vendors to ensure availability and integrity of the IT infrastructure. This includes vendor selection, contract management, service agreements and operations.
• Maintaining an Information Technology strategy for the Company.
• Conducting the appropriate assessments of security and operations on an annual basis.

Mandatories

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Minimum College Diploma in Information Technology.
• Strong supervisory/leadership skills with the ability to coach and mentor.
• A minimum of seven years' experience that is relative to the responsibilities of this position and the Company's information technology environment.
