Purpose of Job:
The HR Generalist is responsible for assisting the business in providing a wide range of HR support and guidance to all levels of an organization. Responsibilities will range from; full cycle-recruitment, employee, payroll and benefits administration, HRIS, disability management and employee relations while facilitating a positive relationship between employees and senior management.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Assist and support the Talent acquisition process by source candidates through various channels, plan and conduct interviews and selection procedures and host or participate in job/career events.
- Complete year-end T4 processing and understand legislative requirements for company payroll.
- Answer any payroll related questions from employees or outside sources.
- Support and be a project lead on the roll out of various Human Resources programs/initiatives.
- Review and audit all relevant payroll data for bi-weekly payroll.
- Foster positive employee relations and effectively support the management of employee relations issues (employee performance and discipline issues).
- Coordinate and organize employee training
- Participating in innovative solutions and opportunities for streamlining processes and build best HR practice.
- Manage the organization’s employee database and maintain and improve HR Standard Materials (correspondence, organizational charts, job descriptions, forms, policies, procedures, training records, Employee Handbook, PowerPoints, checklists, contracts, employee personnel files).
- Provides support to employees by responding to employee questions and concerns and guide and direct employees on human resource policies and processes. Maintain an open door policy.
- Perform year-end reconciliations for payroll accounts.
- Perform payroll and benefits administration and communicate benefit information to employees. Has responsibility for payroll duties as described below:
- Assist in developing and executing Human Resources procedures and policies and provide guidance to managers and supervisors on their implementation and interpretation.
- Support the on-boarding process and coordinate, organize and deliver orientation for all new hires as needed.
- Remit and reconcile all government remittances.
- Assist Senior HR Generalist in HR related special projects, surveys, initiatives and facility roll-outs;
- Ensures compliance with employment related laws/practices;
- Reconcile and update employee benefits and pension contributions.
Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Co-Chair the company JHSC.
- Assist in development, review & implementation of new safety policies and programs, including, training, processes and procedures.
- Manage the WSIB Claims Management process.
- Assist with the Early and Safe Return to Work/Disability management programs. Ensuring timelines are met and proper follow up has been maintained.
- Participate in accident / incident investigations as required and conduct workplace inspections. Maintain HS statistics.
Knowledge, Skills and Education:
- Problem-solving and time management skills.
- Demonstrates high integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively will parties.
- Excellent Problem-solving, Critical Thinking. and Attention to detail.
- Degree in Human Resources Management.
- Working knowledge of ADP would be an asset.
- CHRP designation would be an asset.
- Minimum of 1+ years of Human Resources experience, specifically manufacturing environment preferred.
- Computer proficiency for payroll software along with Microsoft office products.
- Organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
- Self-starter, result driven.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to build relationships and trust.
- Offer effective follow-through with the ability to juggle competing priorities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment along with the aptitude to prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines
- Customer service orientation and dedication to owning this role.
- PCP certification would be an asset. Payroll experience preferred.
