About The Role
In this role you will be responsible for employee and labour relations. You will be required to have a strong degree of autonomy and independent decision making, with a supportive team of peers and experts to draw upon in the region and at a national level. You will partner with regional business managers to help them succeed; and advise/consult.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Disability management
  • Assess Leadership capability and coach to close gaps
  • Employee/Labour relations including interpretation of Non-Union Terms & Conditions of Employment and Collective Agreement interpretation for multiple unions
  • Employee engagement
  • Participating in the development and delivery of Human Resources operational and strategic goals
  • Collective bargaining
  • Culture change - Helping teams change their mindset and behaviors
  • Performance management
  • Team effectiveness
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Completion of a university degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Behavioral Sciences or a related field
  • A minimum of five years of related experience in an operational and strategic Human Resources role within a unionized environment
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CPHR) designation is an asset
  • Ideally experience in a manufacturing, supply chain and continuous improvement culture
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to coach employees and managers through difficult situations and facilitate conflict resolution
  • Thorough understanding of HR best practices, talent management concepts and strategic programs as well as related legislative requirements
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers at all levels
  • Demonstrated expertise in labour relations
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English are essential
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Travel may be required
  • Strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated consulting skills with strong planning and execution capabilities
  • Effective interpersonal skills along with proven ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion
