Job Summary


The Civil and Resource Engineering Department is located within the Faculty of Engineering department plays a key role in Nova Scotia as a catalyst of research-driven innovation as well as the intellectual and technological growth of the province. Reporting to the Department Administrator, the Secretary provides clerical support of the operational needs of the Civil and Resource Engineering Department and its programs.


Key Responsibilities


  • Prepare data, statistical analysis and reports about graduate applications and admissions as requested. Perform other administrative duties as required.
  • Assist with the CUPE TA/Marker hiring process for undergraduate courses, including posting, receiving applications, preparing and collecting signed duties forms, contracts, work permits and banking information.
  • Update program, course, and enrollment information on university-wide electronic records systems.
  • Provide support compiling and reviewing accreditation documentation and assist on implementation and maintenance of relevant administrative policies and procedures.
  • Advise applicants on established information regarding programs offered, admission procedure, eligibility, costs, and financial support available.
  • Monitor progress records/documents for students registered in the Department’s programs, tracking that program requirements are completed and deadlines are met.


Note


Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.


Required Qualifications


  • Business/Office Administration Certificate/Diploma with two to three years’ of relevant experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Exhibit attention to detail, and have the ability to adapt to different work environments (online/in-person) and learn new technologies and processes as needed.
  • Skills to multi-task, demonstrate initiative, work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and other Microsoft programs.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
