GIS Technologist (Barrie or Collingwood)

We are seeking a GIS Technologist to work with our Water Resources, Hydrogeology, and Coastal Engineering groups based out of our Barrie or Collingwood office.

The successful applicant will utilize ESRI Arc Map to analyze data sets and prepare detailed maps for municipal infrastructure, coastal, water resources, hydrogeological, environmental and land development projects. Projects involve water distribution, storm and sanitary sewers, road construction/reconstruction, site plan servicing design, subdivision servicing design, lot grading, and municipal infrastructure renewal.

Responsibilities

• Assist with analysis and/or design including utilizing available GIS and CADD software;
• Assist with contract administration, including preparation of requests for quotation, contract change orders and payment certificates; preparation of applications for approvals; compile and analyze data.
• Assist with technical modeling (using such software as OTTHYMO, PCSWMM, HY-8, Hydraflow Express and HEC-RAS);
• Assist with design calculations and computer modeling, etc.;
• Assist with design calculations, report writing, project coordination and management, cost estimates, preparation of tender documents, specifications and contract administration;

Key Position Requirements

• Preferred to have working knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision
• A diploma in Geographic Information Systems or Civil Engineering Technology
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Working knowledge of Arc GIS

The ideal candidate will have experience using ACAD/Civil 3D to prepare engineering design drawings (2D/3D).
