WE ARE LOOKING FOR A CATEGORY MANAGER – NEW CATEGORIES
SENIORITY LEVEL: G35
FUNCTION: Marketing
LOCATION: Montréal, Canada
ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES
Governed by the overall market performance of their brand, the Category Manager is responsible for assisting in the development of brand & category strategies, the communication of those strategies, and for the implementation of tactical initiatives and consumer engagement activities. All these actions must be closely linked and aligned to the wider Corporate, Brand Portfolio, Consumer, Sales & Trade, Pricing, and Consumer Experience objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR
· Support the development & execution of brand & category strategies, plans and consumer engagement activities to ensure that Brand objectives are achieved.
· Adhere to the Global Brand Governance, seeking appropriate governance and oversight in line with the Brands global portfolio positioning.
· Drive product pipeline including identifying new potential product opportunities/spaces and supporting through concept development to full NPI process.
· Support the definition of brand vision, strategy, positioning, and marketing mix including pack, product specification, pricing levels (including tactical to impact performance requirements) and communications.
· Develop all brand deliverables for hand-over to the Consumer Experience group and work in close collaboration with the team to ensure brand strategy / plans are executed accordingly. This includes all retail, entertainment, consumer, and digital channels.
· Monitor implementation and results of operational Brand plan and recommend tactical changes and new programs when off-target.
· Monitor and report Brand expenditure to ensure it does not exceed budget defined in operational Brand plan.
· Analyse market research data (performance, consumer, and pricing) to understand and react to issues and seize market opportunities.
· Manage external agencies to ensure day-to-day activities related to Brand programs are performed with required quality and agreed to cost & timescales as defined in operational Brand plan.
· Handle communications between the Category Team, Trade Marketing, Product team, Operations, Legal and Consumer Experience to ensure the cycle plan is effectively executed and Brand programs are effectively implemented.
· Be the internal spokesperson for the brand: proactively present and make recommendations to all appropriate forums. This includes the Canadian Board of Directors, local and global teams, all internal and external collaborators, and the field force.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND KNOWLEDGE
· 4+ years of relevant marketing experience
· Experience in Brand/Category Area is essential
· Experience in shaping messages and implementing strategies for the communication with health care professionals is an asset. Brand positioning knowledge an asset. Proven project management skills
· Excellent inter-personal and communication skills (specifically presentation skills) are a must
· Strong analytical skills to collect, organize and analyse market insights (performance, consumer, and pricing)
· Strong interpersonal communication skills (English & French), and the ability to work in a team environment.
· Ability to manage multiple collaborators simultaneously, across Canadian and global markets, with no direct lines of reporting (internal teams and external suppliers). Proven ability to shape arguments, make recommendations, and present to senior stakeholders
· Demonstrable success in negotiation and influencing. Resilience and ability to look for proactive solutions when confronted with project related challenges. Overall curiosity, and the ability to work autonomously
· Proficiency with MS Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, business, or related fields
· Possess the current legal right to work in Canada.

Knowledge of English is required because the role deals with customers and suppliers elsewhere in Canada and around the world.
