Responsible for oversight of all aspects of Operations and Manufacturing at the Guelph, ON plant, which includes Engineering, Materials, Quality, Manufacturing, and Logistics.Provide strategic direction to the Guelph, ON Plant, focusing on improving On-Time Delivery, Quality, and Efficiency.Oversee day-to-day operations of plant production and keep production at maximum capacity while working within financial controls, meeting Operational metrics & Financial commitments. Ensure all required quality and regulatory standards are met. Develop processes for maximizing safety, quality, productivity and stewardship. Lead data-driven continuous improvement across broad Operational processes and Shop Floor activities.
Key Responsibilities
Management of Daily Plant Initiatives
·Organize plant maintenance/capital expenditures to ensure safe environment and state of the art equipment in all aspects of company operations
·Organize/structure manufacturing plant(s) to ensure low cost production at 100% quality with timely delivery.
·Oversee the Engineering, Materials, Quality, Manufacturing and Logistics departments
·Ensure plant equipment is maintained as per regulations
·Review and ensure production schedule is followed daily with any concerns resolved quickly
·Produce production / material / labor / work cell / line reports to monitor rates, efficiency, quantity.
Quality
·Ensure production/productivity deviations or variances are reviewed, that root cause has been determined and effective corrective action has been successfully implemented
·Drive Continuous Improvement activities across Operations processes and Shop Floor, leveraging Lean techniques
·Ensure compliance with ISO9000 and other industry standards as required by customers
·Organize quality systems to ensure the highest quality products available and maintaining state of the art systems to meet market requirements.
·Review audit reports to ensure conformance with quality standards and meet with employees who are not meeting requirements to put action plans in place.
Communication
·Chair monthly tool box talks with plant employees to update on projects, budget, etc
·Attend weekly meetings with management team to review organizational performance and report on same
·Lead daily meetings with employees on the floor
·Hold production meetings to ensure cross communication between departments
·Meet with suppliers/customers as required
People Management
·As a member of the management team, hold yourself to a higher standard
·Speak to others with respect at all times
·Work with Human Resources to:
oCo-ordinate the progressive skill development and cross training of employees
oCreation of job postings, hiring and orientation of new employees
oCounselling employees to improve performance
oEnsure the organization continues to follow safety and compliance regulations
Health and Safety
·Provide information, instruction and supervision to individual workers to protect health or safety of each individual
·Ensure the equipment, materials and protective devices as prescribed are provided and are maintained in good condition.
·Make daily inspections of assigned area to ensure compliance with good housekeeping and safe work practices.
·Ensure the prescribed policies and procedures are carried out in the workplace.
·Attend JHSC meeting as one of the senior representatives
- ·Follow up on any near misses or injuries
Budget Responsibilities
- Product costs.
- Yearly operating budget for plant production and maintenance including materials, Labour and benefits.
- Overhead spending including material, outside services, labour and benefits.
- Capital budget for plant and equipment.
Qualifications
- Health & Safety, O.S.H.A. knowledge
- ISO 9000 Certification.
- M.R.P. / J.I.T. processes.
- P.C. / Computer Literate.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing an asset
- Ten (10 ) years experience in leading production
- College or University degree in business management strongly preferred
- Knowledge of metal working equipment, painting processes, welding, stationary and mobile material handling equipment.
- Preventative Maintenance processes.
- Total Quality Management (T.Q.M.).
- Statistical Analysis processes.
