Position Overview
The general accountant is responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions of REF North and will be working closely with the plant management, Hubbell business units and segment finance team. The role requires a keen eye to detail and solid accounting background in order to articulate and maintain compliance with Hubbell accounting policies, procedures, risk, and controls.
The role requires a self-starter with a background in journal entry booking, prepapring financial information for use of various stakeholders, and working in a multi-currency environment
Understanding of multi-currency reporting. We operate in CAD and report in USD.
Duties and Responsibilities

• Other accounting/finance related tasks as they arise
• Complete quarterly income tax packages & quarterback annual income tax filings
• Maintenance of key accounting records including fixed asset subledgers & intercompany transaction worksheets
• Preparation of monthly variance & flux analysis for the income statement & balance sheet
• GL account and JE preparation
• Prepare monthly finance packages for use of local & segment finance teams
• Canadian Statutory & Tax filings
• Coordination & assembly of monthly financial forecast & annual business plans
• Complete account reconciliations in Blackline
• Ownership of the local control environment including completion of required SOX, audit and compliance documentation
• Maintain banking & cash flows including bank reconciliations, FX trades
• Complete revaluation of mend end results to be loaded into SAP & OneStream
• Encoding of AR & AP invoices into the ERP - matching or material packing slips w/POs & invoices, AP payment runs

Skills And Experience

• Four Year Accounting Degreee
• Working knowledge of SAGE and SAP. OneStream exposure a plus.
• Computer Skills: Must have strong Microsoft Office, e-mail and other PC application skills.
• Intermediate level of CPA - CGA or CMA and a minimum of 3 years related business experience in the manufacturing industry an asset
• Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations; Uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
