Salary Range: $ 67,893 to $117,697, established in terms of relevant educational qualifications and experience. The College also offers a complete range of fringe benefits.
Learning & Teaching Services (LTS) provides academic leadership in the development and delivery of innovative and evidence-based approaches to teaching excellence and quality student learning. Reporting to the Chair of LTS, the Educational Developer is responsible for facilitating and guiding professional learning for faculty across all disciplines in order to provide an effective learning environment for students of Algonquin College.
Professional Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Contribute to marketing and outreach activities to promote faculty development opportunities.
  • Build networks with peers and colleagues across institutions, specifically within teaching & learning centers in the Ontario college system, and represent Algonquin College at events, on committees, and in other academic forums.
  • Model the College Core Values of Caring, Learning, Integrity and Respect.
  • Conduct research into new and emerging areas in education which impact on the teaching and learning environment, sharing findings across the LTS team and engaging in a process of continuous improvement to existing programs and services.
  • Demonstrate commitment to Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) and Truth, Reconciliation & Indigenization (TRI) across all interactions in the college community.
  • Work within the broader Academic Development team to collect, analyze, and interpret information on training needs and future requirements from various sources, including Program Quality Reviews.
  • Conduct individual consultations and classroom visits with faculty to support improvements in teaching and learning.
  • Facilitate programming for faculty, such as the Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) and the Faculty Learning Program (FLP).
  • Collaborate with faculty, Chairs, Deans, and the LTS team in the design and implementation and continuous improvement of faculty development programming that meets the strategic needs of Algonquin College.
  • Develop resources and workshops, in a variety of modalities, to support both just-in-time and ongoing development of faculty in the area of teaching and learning.
  • Maintain currency and competency in the discipline of education and within areas of expertise.
Required Qualifications
  • Evidence of commitment to the success of all learners.
  • Demonstrated skill in Algonquin College’s preferred teaching competencies as set out in the Professor of the 21st Century document: http://www.algonquincollege.com/profres/ ;

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of research in pedagogy/andragogy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in course curriculum development; experience working within the Ontario Qualifications Framework is an asset.
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Education or a related field of study; doctoral degree is considered an asset.
  • Experience in working in a Teaching and Learning Centre.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of teaching experience, or equivalent, preferably in a post-secondary setting.
  • Sound knowledge of current learning theory and practice as well as experience using a wide range of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with a variety of assessment techniques.
  • Ability to participate in consultative decision-making processes.
  • Highly effective communication, presentation, facilitation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting.
  • Sound knowledge of curriculum theory and practice with demonstrated skill working with curriculum in a variety of delivery modes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of educational technologies; experience in the development and delivery of hybrid and online curriculum is considered an asset.
