Mohawk College is currently recruiting for our next
Professor, Insurance and Finance
The Department of Business Management in the McKeil School of Business requires a full time Professor to teach theoretical and practical business applications in our Insurance, Finance, and Business programs.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership for developing an effective learning environment.
Responsibilities
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Deliver theory and practical application at both the College Diploma and Degree level.
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning strategies including classroom lectures and workshops, online learning, video recordings, simulations and
  • Create a positive learning environment in the classroom and other learning spaces.

  • Assess student feedback and industry trends to develop, deliver and revise curriculum.
  • Demonstration of student-centered course design and delivery, including aspects of Universal Design for Learning and intercultural competence.
  • Use a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.

Qualifications
The successful applicant must have:
  • Extensive Underwriting knowledge and/or experience
  • A demonstrated record of student-centered and innovative delivery
  • Competence with an on-line learning environment including experience hosting virtual class-rooms e.g. Zoom or Teams.
  • Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level would be an asset
  • Experience with on-line Learning Management systems.
  • Experienced in program and curriculum development
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of progressive business and academic experience.
  • Certified as a FCIP (Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional) and/or CFP (Certified Financial Planner)
  • A PhD in Management with a focus on any one of Insurance, Risk Management, or Finance
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity and inclusion with the ability to communicate and work
  • Experience and/or interest in leading in a Program Coordinator capacity
effectively inter-culturally with diverse groups of students, employees and the community.
