As a financial controller, you will be a key member of the finance team in the Electrical Installation Products business line at the St-Jean plant in Iberville, Québec, as well as supporting the operations of the Edmonton plant. Under the responsibility of the operations controller, you will provide essential support to the company, ensuring the accurate monitoring and processing of all transactions.
Your responsibilities
  • Serve as a key partner for the manager of the Electrical Installation Product business line by determining the business strategy in line with the broader strategies of the division and product group.
  • Supervise a team of financial analysts in the achievement of the objectives set.
  • Put in place and oversee the processes and tools necessary to obtain transparent and reliable financial and business data, ensuring high quality information in accordance with the standards defined and the financial closing schedules.
  • Translate the business strategy into plans and set measurable objectives, assess the financial implications of various strategic decisions, identify the risks, and recommend actions.
  • Conduct financial analyses, produce reports for the business managers, and make suggestions to improve performance, if necessary.
  • Establish cost structures, optimize productivity and capital efficiency while closely monitoring cash flows and taking the appropriate measures to improve net working capital.
  • Get involved in the development and implementation of new financial systems to increase the company's financial and operational performance.
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with the local/country/division/regional controllers concerned, the Accounting Centre, and the other internal clients in order to identify and discuss issues, suggestions for improving operations, quality of work, and efficiency
  • Make sure that the operational activities are consistent with the company's internal controls. Ensure compliance with internal directives/procedures and external regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise the planning and forecasting process of the activities of the Electrical Installation Products sector and support the national directives.

Your background
  • Collaborative leadership, team spirit, and positive team management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in an accounting position in a manufacturing environment.
  • CPA certification in Québec.
  • Experience with computerized accounting systems and financial reporting software.
  • A strong collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and solid written and verbal communication skills.
