Position Summary
The Finance Clerk (hybrid - full time role) is responsible for completing all financial transactions related to pre and post payments, facility and provider invoice reconciliation and approval. The Finance Clerk will manage day to day financial responsibilities like deliver telephone payments, prepare cheques, and perform basic accounting in support of the team while providing excellent customer service. He/she will continue to identify opportunities for improvement from a billing and invoicing perspective and also assist with monthly close analysis and any ad-hoc requests to meet the deliverables from the Finance team, as needed.
Role and Responsibilities
- Review and compile monthly client/clinician invoice & billing information
- Reconcile any cheque discrepancies and establish relationships with internal parties, operations vendors, and facilities
- Support other accounting/finance functions, e.g., creating accruals, analyzing revenue, analyzing doctor payment, assist with month-end close
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Provide monthly billing statements to providers
- Print, log and mail cheques for providers, operations vendors, and facilities
- Identify improvement and automation opportunities to create efficiency within the billing cycle
- Maintain the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information
- Approve invoice requests for facility pre and post payments
- Document payment details and correspondence thoroughly and accurately
- Create provider and vendor account profiles
- Ensure all processes follow government mandated and regulatory compliance protocols
- Member reimbursement/receipts
- Ensure timely and accurate follow up and responses to all inquiries from internal and external parties
- Month-end support which includes preparing working papers, reconciliations, and accruals
- Receive and process provider invoices
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Ability to read and interpret sales contracts and related legal documents in a finance/accounting role
- Superior analytical skills, with strong critical thinking ability
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma preferred
- +1 to 3 years of billing and accounting experience, preferably in a clinical office, hospital, or other medical facility/healthcare industry environment - open to hiring a new graduate
- Strong knowledge of billing and payment cycles
- Highly proficient in using computer technology and various software programs which includes but is not limited to Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, CRM, and SalesForce
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment in a growing company with expanding service lines and client base
- Bi-lingual in English/French is an asset
- Superior organizational and time management skills, ability to effectively manage competing priorities and work under pressure
