Job Description
Our client is a Canadian multinational energy transportation company. They focus on the transportation, distribution, and generation of energy, primarily in North America. They have a long history in the responsible development and reliable and safe operation of North American energy infrastructure. They are one of the continent’s largest providers of gas storage and related services.


They are currently looking for a Field Control Analyst for their Edmonton, AB location.


Description:’


The Project Controls Coordinator II (PCC) is responsible for development and implementation of project controls planning, integration of cost and schedule functions as well as quality control oversight of all project controls deliverables for Engineering and Construction capital projects.


Assigned to projects of up to $25 MM/year with typically 1 year or less duration of routine to mid-level complexity.


Duties And Responsibilities


  • Performing quality control on all project control deliverables for completeness and accuracy. Lead role in coordinating collection of deliverables for Phase Gate Review meetings according to the 6-Phase Project Lifecycle.
  • Schedule Report and Schedule Variance Analysis
  • Cost Report and Cost Variance Analysis
  • Cash Flow Report and Variance Analysis
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to project controls and project systems functional groups on actual experiences gained during implementation of new tools, processes or procedures.
  • Monthly Progress Report Integrating Cost Control and Scheduling functions into one seamless team.
  • Lead and coordinate development of overall Project Execution Plan.

  • Participate in the development and maintenance of project controls deliverables including but limited to:
  • Project Change Management Procedure
  • Defining Project Controls resource requirements for the project.


Basic/Minimum Qualifications


  • PCC Bachelors degree in engineering, in another technical discipline or industry PCC specific related experience with a minimum of seven - ten years of experience.


Desired Qualifications


  • Computer skills using Microsoft Office products; specifically Microsoft Project and Microsoft Project Server;
  • Familiarity with best management practices for project scheduling and cost control;
  • Specific knowledge and experience in scheduling and cost process and issues related to pipeline and plant facility projects;
  • Ability to be effective within a matrix organizational structure;
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in a team environment;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and to work with a reasonable level of supervision;
  • Ability to understand and implement processes and practices for project scheduling and cost control;


Here’s What You Will Do


  • Review and validation of Invoices to ensure that dates and amounts are in agreement with contract terms.
  • Compilation of scheduled and ad hoc reporting as required by the project personnel.
  • Attend and participate in program and contractor update meetings.
  • Record, track and maintain all submissions related to cost, budget, progress and change.
  • Active participant of the program team; works closely with Program Managers, Project Controls Advisors Field Control Advisors, and Leads.
  • Review and record daily Labor, Equipment, and Material tickets (LEMS) for cost and man hour information (TM work)
  • Update and maintain earned value reports for all major scopes of work on a daily basis.
  • Review and record daily progress, change requests and report on variances from estimates.
  • Interface with contractors to ensure we are provided with correct rates and estimates for updating reports.
  • Review and record Daily scorecards (UPI/ Lump sum work)
  • Conduct critical analysis of project costs and budget.
  • Comply with all client policies and procedures, including but not limited to: Safety, Integrity, Respect, and other applicable trainings.
  • Interface with Inspectors to ensure they are providing accurate documentation for updating reports.
  • Work in Oracle Cloud and with Accounts Payable group to ensure invoices are coded properly and sent to the appropriate approver.


Who You Are


You have:


  • Power BI experience a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • High proficiency with MS Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)
  • A University degree or related construction or operational training and/or experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Construction experience related to cost and scheduling controls of multi discipline projects. Oil and Gas industry related experience will be required, as the logic and sequencing of tasks is dependent upon this previous experience. Industrial Construction experience, and interfaces with the Engineering, Procurement, Contracting, Execution, and Commissioning phases of the project are highly desirable.

  • Software experience with: MS Office Suite and Oracle or SAP.
  • General understanding of pipeline and terminal operations.

Physical Requirements Include But Are Not Limited To


Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.
