The Opportunity
Our Coastal GasLink (CGL) Operations team is seeking to add a Facilities Technician at our Wilde Lake Compression Station, located near Groundbirch / Dawson Creek, British Columbia. Coastal GasLink spans 670 kilometers and will safely deliver natural gas from northeastern B.C. to the LNG Canada facility in Kitimat, B.C. The pipeline route was determined by considering Indigenous, landowner and stakeholder input, the environment, archaeological and cultural values, land use compatibility, safety, constructability and economics.
Reporting to the CGL East Area Manager, the Facilities Technician will support the continued maintenance and operation of TC Energy facilities in the Area. The successful candidate will apply their mechanical and technical skills to keep our natural gas compressor stations, measurement stations, and pipeline sites running smoothly.
The role is overtime eligible and will be part of an on-call rotating schedule in which you will be subject to call-out for emergency response. The regular work schedule will be:

• Week 1: Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is an 8-hour day
• Week 2: Monday to Thursday 9 hours / day; Friday is a Regular Day Off (RDO)

What You’ll Do

• Understand emergency management, preparedness and response procedures for work locations
• Oversee third party contractors
• Perform routine pipeline, gas measurement and compression maintenance activities as required
• Perform basic additional duties such as routine administration, clerical duties, etc.
• Perform monthly and annual preventive maintenance and inspections on site equipment
• Ensure facilities and personnel comply with TC Energy’s health, safety, environment, and risk standards
• Interpret technical reference documents, drawings and vendor manuals
• Perform basic maintenance such as installing building signage and repairing fences
• Perform frequent inspections of the facility and oversight of our facilities vegetation management plan
• Provide assistance to technicians and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Completion of a second year of trades program or two years of technical training
• Excellent work safety record and a safe work attitude
• High School Diploma / GED
• Proven mechanical and technical skills related to natural gas pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Facilities experience with a variety of tasks in construction, operation and maintenance of either pipeline or compressor facilities or clean-up work
• Previous experience in the oil and natural gas industry
• Experience using a computerized maintenance management system, such as SAP or Maximo

This position requires candidates to:

• Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing
• Be subject to callouts with extended workdays/weeks as required to complete assignments or emergency support
• Spend long periods at a computer work station, drive long distances and be exposed to field operations and construction environments
• Perform physically demanding tasks in both hot and wintry weather environments
• Have and maintain a valid driver's license and a safe driving record
• Travel within the assigned area of responsibility as well as occasionally to other company locations which may include overnight trips (25% of the time)
