The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset to drive the future success of this family-owned non-profit foundation dedicated to animal welfare. As the Foundation's leader, your role will involve liaising with stakeholders, managing operations, reviewing and approving funding applications, internal and external communications, and administration. This is a unique opportunity for someone with experience working in or with the non-profit sector, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for making a difference. This is a remote, part-time, salaried position, with very flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Liase with the Foundation's Investment Advisor, Lawyer and Accountant as required.
- Cultivate relationships with potential donors and initiate fundraising initiatives.
- Prepare and present summaries of prospective charities to the Board with recommendations for funding decisions.
- Monitor finanical metrics and assist with budgeting and tracking of donations and expenses.
- Navigate and ensure compliance with relevant laws, tax and reporting requiements, and ethical standards.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including communications and due diligence with prospective charities and more than 65 currently supported charities.
- Manage the website to keep it updated with new funding stories, news articles, and charities.
- Work with the Board of Directors to support our mission to save and protectanimals, birds and sea life throughout the world.
- Represent the Foundation at public evets and for media appearances.
Qualifications
- Familiarity with community outreach and animal welfare advocacy.
- Passion for animal welfare and understanding of related challenges and opportunities.
- Strategic thinking and proactive problem-solving skills.
- Financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Integrity, empathy, and commitment to ethical conduct.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of and ability to interpret and apply the tax and legal obligations and restrictions faced by nonprofit organizations.
- Relevant work experience in the nonprofit sector, working with nonprofit clients, business administration, or a related field.
