Job Description
Promoted on behalf of the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Music Festival

Hawthorne Recruitment is excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Executive Director to join the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Music Festival (NSKMF). As Atlantic Canada's largest student and adult participatory festival, NSKMF provides a nurturing and educational platform for individuals of all ages to showcase their musical talents. We are searching for a compassionate individual with a background in the not-for-profit sector to lead the festival, maintain high standards, cultivate strategic relationships, enhance program offerings, and shape the future of the festival.

As the Executive Director, you will play a pivotal role in planning and presenting an extraordinary music festival that showcases the remarkable performances of local musicians, including those in the early stages of their development. Working closely with the Board of Directors, you will collaborate to ensure the festival's success and provide an enriching experience for all participants.

Your administrative prowess will shine as you efficiently manage the day-to-day operations of the festival office, ensuring seamless administrative functions and showcasing excellent computer skills. You will have the opportunity to update and refine the yearly syllabus of classes, ensuring that participants receive the highest quality evaluations and feedback from engaged adjudicators. Venue management will be an integral part of your responsibilities, as you research and secure suitable venues across Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) for the festival performances.

As an advocate for the arts and music education, you will engage in fundraising activities to secure support from corporate and community sponsors. Building and nurturing strong relationships with sponsors and partners will be key to the festival's sustainability and growth. Additionally, you will recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to provide invaluable support throughout the festival.

Your organizational skills and attention to detail will be put to good use as you develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule for festival classes, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to timelines. Experience in the not-for-profit sector, preferably in a leadership role, will be highly valued, and your passion for music education and performance in all disciplines will drive the festival's success.

Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and database management, will be essential for effective administrative tasks. A valid driver's license and a background in music education will be considered assets in this role.

This is a self-directed position that offers flexibility in working hours. As the Executive Director, you will implement strategic plans developed by the Board, ensuring the ongoing success of HRM's oldest and longest-running music festival. The salary range for this position is $35,000.00 - $38,000.00.

To apply for this exciting opportunity, please send your resume to [email protected]. We appreciate all applications and will contact only shortlisted candidates for interviews.

At the Nova Scotia Kiwanis Music Festival and Hawthorne Recruitment, we are committed to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We are proud to be equal opportunity employers, and we encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply and join our team.
