THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S ROLE

Led by the Executive Director and an elected National Board of Directors (NBOD), we are a non-profit organization that strives to better the Canadian community as a whole and specifically the communities in which we serve


Kin Canada Structure

Kin Canada is an all-Canadian Association comprised of community clubs across Canada. While the administration of Kin Canada as a national body is headquartered in Cambridge, Ontario, hundreds of independently incorporated clubs operate from coast to coast to coast.The structure of Kin Canada is broken down to four leadership levels. Together the Association and its members strive to align its efforts to the vision, values and mission of Kin Canada.


NATIONAL LEADERSHIP AND HEADQUARTERS OPERATIONS

The National Board of Directors is comprised of elected Kin Canada members. As a board, these elected membersdefine Kin Canada’s vision, and policies based on the needs of the membership and the communities we serve. The boardis comprised of the Kin Canada National President, National Vice-President, Past National President,National Secretary,and seven National Directors.


Kin Canada’s operational team manage national administration and provide administrative support to clubs. The Executive Director leads Kin Canada’s staff and ensures the Association moves toward itsmission and objectivesin the most efficient and effective manner.


THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S ROLE

Kin Canada’s Executive Director provides leadership, oversees national operations and guides implementation of our current strategic plan.

The Executive Director is a driven professional with a proven track record for delivering results and who has a desire to positively impact Canadians from coast to coast to coast.


What Success Looks Like in This Role:

Supporting Kin members in their work to positively impact Canadian communities. You understand the unique structure that is Kin Canada, and strive to address their ever-changing, diverse needs through the strategic plan to move the Association forward. You identify that collaboration is critical, knowing the Association cannot succeed without the expertise, resources and lived experiences of the Kin Canada staff and membership. You focus on outcomes that achieve our vision, mission, and strategic priorities.


Primary Accountabilities:

·Acting as the liaison between operational Association activities and the Board of Directors, providing strategic recommendations on Association business issues.

·Responsible for the successful leadership, overall management, and operations of the organization according to the strategic directions, and policies set by the Board of Directors.

·Recruit, manage and oversee a dedicated team of high performing staff serving Kin Canada’s interests across Canada.

EXPECTATIONS


Responsibilities

·Providing direction to a National Leadership Hub comprised of national operating committees, regional volunteer leadership, and support staff.

·Fostering and maintaining relationships with other non-profit agencies, various levels of government, business leaders and community stakeholders.

·Establishing good working relationships and collaborative arrangements with members, community groups, funders, partners, and relevant third parties to further the goals of Kin Canada.

Facilitating the development and implementation of the strategic plan, along with supporting operational programs.

·Ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed of Kin Canada activities.

·Monitoring Kin Canada national efforts and identifying necessary changes in the landscape served by the organization.

·Oversees all aspects of day-to-day Kin Canada operations, including areas such as human resources, stakeholder relations, financial management and risk management.

·Managing operating and capital budgets, ensuring appropriate financial reporting is in place.


Education and Experience Required:

·Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field.

·Minimum 7 years of progressive and relevant work experience.

·Excellent leadership and critical thinking skills

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·Strong decision-making skills in leading, managing, and motivating staff

·Experience in strategic planning and execution

·Experience working with Boards of Directors

·Experience in budget management

·Experience in employee management and application of human resource best practices.


Asset Qualifications:

·Significant experience with membership-based organizations

·Significant experience in the non-profit sector

·Ability to communicate in French (Spoken / Written)

Knowledge, Skills, and Critical Behaviours:

·Financial management, budget development and reporting.

·Development and facilitation of leadership training workshops.

·Strong relationship management skills with demonstrated ability to motivate a team of employees, as well as volunteers.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

·Kin Canada operates in a hybrid model of in-office and remote work.

·The successful candidate for this role may choose to work in-office at Kin Canada’s National Headquarters in Cambridge, Ontario

·The successful candidate may also choose to work remotely at a suitable location throughout Canada which allows for an effective and engaging relationship with the entire Kin Canada Team.

·Travel may be required.

Salary/Term of Contract

·Salary is commensurate with experience and industry standards.

·Indeterminate employment upon yearly reviews.
