Summary
In collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Executive Director identifies service delivery models that support the Society’s vision for quality, accessible health care and wellness support for the Pender Islands community. The Executive Director advocates for both the substance and importance of the organization’s mission to relevant public, government, and strategic partners.

Reporting directly to the Board, the Executive Director has a key leadership role with responsibility and accountability for managing the day-to-day operations of the Health Centre and its programs on behalf of the Society. The Executive Director mentors and supports a team of part-time Society employees and contractors who report directly or indirectly.
About the Society
Our mission is “to facilitate access to primary health care and complementary services to support the health and wellbeing of the Pender Islands community”. The Society is a charitable organization that owns and operates the 740m2 (8,000ft2) Health Centre under the direction of a 12-member, volunteer Board of Directors. The facility originally opened in 1981, has more than 17,000 patient visits per year, and rents space to a diversity of licensed health care practitioners and wellness service providers, as well as BCAmbulance.
The Society currently does not hire/oversee health professionals such as physicians, nurses, dentist, chiropractor, etc. These practitioners are tenants and governed by the standards of their professional associations. For example, Island Health is responsible for hiring physicians and the nurse practitioner.
