Engineering Manager - Performance

The Role

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead and recruit a team of highly skilled performance engineers. You are comfortable working in a rapid, agile environment and thrive when challenged with solving complex problems. In this role, your focus will be ensuring Veeva's products are delivered to our customers quickly and with the best quality and performance possible.

What You'll Do

• Empower the development team, making it easy for developers to proactively run performance tests and analyze results
• Understand the health of the releases
• Keep on top of performance issues (make sure that production performance issues are investigated and prioritized)
• Ensure that the performance team builds more tests and data sets for performance metrics
• Execute the right tests at the right time, analyze the results, and get the right development teams involved with issues
• Recruit, challenge, motivate, coach, and reward high-performance individuals that deliver 10x the impact of average engineers
• Be a person of contact for services and support on production issues who is able to communicate directly with customers
• Regular and timely updates on performance for the executive team

Requirements

• Excellent customer service attitude, communication skills (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
• Tenacity, technical brilliance, and ability to contribute quickly
• Ability to motivate people, instill accountability and achieve results
• Experience with building/deploying/managing AWS on an enterprise-level
• Drive and flexibility to roll up your sleeves, work hard and have fun in a fast-moving environment
• Smart, quick learner, proactive, comfortable working with unknowns and dynamically evolving requirements
• 5+ years developing commercial software in Java
• BS/BEng in engineering/computer science or equivalent
• 2+ years of software engineering management experience using an agile development process

• Proven ability to hire, mentor, coach, and lead a team to success
• Take pride in work through attention to detail
• Strong experience with scripting - shell, Python, etc.
