Duties


Serves as the lead for the planning, developing, organizing and delivering all forms of education programs, to achieve the overall constitutional objectives for the members of NBNU. Works in collaboration with the President and 1st Vice President.


Specific Qualifications


Completion of post-secondary school with additional formal preparation in the area of nursing, labour relations, social sciences, or adult education. Demonstrated experience with adult training and education is essential.


Skills And Abilities


  • Ability to function co-operatively with other members of the Union's staff, exercise good judgment, exercise initiative, manage shifting priorities and to seek and take direction as required.
  • Knowledge of the working practices and environmental conditions of nursing.
  • Demonstrated experience leading the development of interactive course materials based on strong instructional design methodology, appropriate training strategies and participant activities.
  • Displays tact, maturity, good judgment, self-motivation, empathy and cultural awareness. Salary: Salary range is $69-102K, based on experience, qualifications and staff collective agreement.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills, in both official languages, with the ability to present and explain detailed information, prepare correspondence, program information and other associated documents.
  • Experience with a labour organization, knowledge of labour relations and the broader labour movement and a commitment to the principles of trade unionism. Equivalent training/education in industrial relations or public sector experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of adult learning programs and skill in application of theories of adult learning across a variety of different media and traditional classroom delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of the objectives, policies and constitution of NBNU and afirm commitment to trade union principles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading program design activities including developing program vision, program/course content and learning outcomes, as well as leading the delivery of selected educational events, workshops, and seminars.
