Communications Officer

Role

The Communications Officer reports to the CEO and is responsible to provide communications support to NBANH and our member homes. They act as first point of contact for media outlets and work closely with CEO to develop messaging for media. They also work closely with the individual nursing homes to support proactive messaging to educate the public about the important work happening in our sector.

Summary Of Position

• Produce engaging content highlighting the "good news" stories happening across our NB nursing homes.
• Act as primary media contact to identify, evaluate and coordinate media interviews and messages with CEO.
• Develop and deliver communications strategy and plan.
• Create, monitor and oversee NBANH social media presence and posts.
• Prepare, edit, translate, and post communication products in both official languages.
• Establish and maintain relationships with the media and other stakeholders.
• Serve as lead for internal communications with NBANH member homes. Sharing important messages and updates.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the NB Long-Term Care sector environment.
• Written and spoken competence in both English and French is required.
• Experience working in non-profit.
• A two-year college diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or marketing with a minimum of three years related work experience, or;
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
• Ability to work as a team player.
• Committed to supporting aging and Long-Term care.
• Highly organized individual with strong attention to detail.
• A university degree in communications, public relations, or a related field, with a minimum of two years related work experience, or;
