About you:
You will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating business documents for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established policies, business practices, and regulations. This role requires strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills to identify discrepancies and conduct due diligence.
What will you do:
- Conduct data analysis and interpretation to support decision-making processes.
- Draft, mark up, rewrite partially or entirely, and provide constructive feedback, edits, and corrections.
- Identify and escalate any discrepancies or errors in the documents.
- Ensure all documents comply with SOPs and Canadian regulations.
- Review various business, incorporation, and legal documents, including but not limited to agreements, business plans, financial statements, modeling and projections, shareholders agreements, marketing materials, HR paperwork, regulatory filings, and MOUs, for accuracy and completeness.
- Stay up-to-date with current laws and industry standards related to Canadian Corporate Law, establishing Startups and Business setups.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve any issues or inconsistencies.
- Maintain an organized system for tracking and documenting the review process.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop solutions to enhance business performance.
What you bring to the role:
- Familiarity with document management systems and tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
- Practical ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds, experiences, and styles.
- At least 3 years of Canadian work experience is required.
- Masters in Business Administration, Law, or related field.
- Experience/knowledge of venture capital, private equity, or related fields is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) - this is critical.
- Experience in business document review, legal document review, or similar roles.
- Experience in the legal field is considered a strong asset.
