We are looking for someone who is dynamic, innovative, and passionate about diversity, culture & change. As the Lead of Diversity, Culture and Change you will oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of plans and strategies to shape and promote our desired organizational culture. You will be responsible for ensuring that the strategies are innovative, adopt best practices and foster an open, diverse and inclusive environment whilst meeting our legislative, reporting and policy requirements. The role champions the importance and value of a diverse and inclusive environment and leads the development of a vision and effective strategy to create a culture for equity, diversity, and inclusion.

This role will promote positive change by creating a learning and working environment where all have an opportunity to succeed. This position reports directly to the Vice President of HR and serves as a member of the HR Management Team. The Lead of Diversity, Culture and Change will engage leaders and employees to further behaviors, attitudes, and policies that support diversity, equity, and inclusion. This role will collaborate with partners across the organization to assess potential barriers and develop strategies to recruit and retain a diverse workforce.

This role will also collaborate with HR, employees and leaders to assess the need for, and recommend training initiatives on, cultural competency, gender differences, disability, sexual harassment, and other topics designed to increase awareness and support of equity and inclusion values, and maintaining compliance with applicable laws.


What you’ll be working on

  • Lead or participate in additional projects as required
  • Research current trends, best practices and emerging data to identify approaches and programs which best support an inclusive and diverse culture and business objectives
  • Provide expert guidance and support for the development and improvement of programs and policies that reflects the company’s values with regards to employee recruitment, retention, engagement and development to create an inclusive and supportive work culture
  • The primary areas of accountability for this role include advocacy, education and building awareness
  • Serve as advisor and resource person for Talent Management, management, and staff in the areas of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Act as the spokesperson both internally and externally on the organizations D&I strategy and program; this includes presenting at the executive / board level
  • Lead the development of organization-wide programs and initiatives to advance diversity, equity and inclusion across the workforce to help meet organizational goals and objectives. Partner with HR and the leadership team to implement diversity strategies that support the shaping of an inclusive culture
  • Lead others to support the development, implementation and management of the Diversity, Culture and Change portfolio. Share knowledge, mentor, set performance goals and provide feedback to support the development of junior staff as required
  • Research, source, create and deliver innovative training content
  • Leverage and interpret data to help identify and report on trends and patterns in diversity and inclusion issues, develop strategies to draw attention to priority needs, profile the effectiveness of current programs, and provide recommendations for improvement


What you’ll need to have

  • Program management and development skills
  • Facilitation and training experience
  • Collaboration, consensus building, and problem solving skills
  • 3-5 years of experience and/or certification in the areas of civil rights, diversity and inclusion, and/or human rights
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and best practices
  • 3-5 years of leadership and managerial experience
  • Strategy development and management knowledge or experience


It would be nice for you to have

  • Policy and procedure development experience is an asset
  • Experience in human resources principles is an asset
  • Budgeting principles and practices knowledge an asset
