Innovation Saskatchewan is a government agency that provides recommendations and advice to the Government of Saskatchewan regarding its strategic direction in the areas of research, development, science and technology. Innovation Saskatchewan recently aligned with Innovation Place research and technology parks in Saskatoon and Regina to create a single innovation agency — together we will continue to help grow and support Saskatchewan’s vibrant tech ecosystem.
Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Director, Project Management to join our Project Management team. Reporting to the Vice President, Research Park Operations, this position will be responsible for the following:
·Providing strategic leadership in planning, design, construction, operation and renewal of the research and technology parks’ built environment
·Developing and implementing efficient and practical project management strategies, policies and processes that are aligned with corporate objectives
·Overseeing procurement process and developing strong working relationships with stakeholders on complex procurements to ensure corporate objectives meet current industry procurement practices and trade agreements
·Providing leadership to the Project Management department, creating an engaging and encouraging work environment and helping identify pathways for growth
·Ensure strong collaboration and teamwork among all technical departments in the organization
·Developing a performance management plan for the department that aligns with divisional and corporate strategic priorities
·Identifying, evaluating and mitigating corporate risks specific to department activities
·Overseeing the development and implementation of standards to ensure consistent, integrated, and intentional improvements, focused on the longevity of the asset
·Developing and maintaining a culture focused on safety and compliance with legislation and regulations
·Champion sustainability and energy reduction programs
What We Want from You
·Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Engineering
·Professional Engineer designation is preferred
·10-15 years of experience in a strategic project management and/or procurement position is preferred
·10-15 years of experience in similar leadership position with direct people management responsibility
·Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, cost control/scheduling programs and project management programs
·Expert understanding of project management principles and practices and ability to effectively apply them to project implementation and delivery
·Extensive knowledge of procurement techniques and practices to effectively manage and deliver projects, preferably with good understanding of public sector process and governance
·Demonstrated ability to understand the big picture and provide strategic advice and input
·Exceptional knowledge of building operations and systems
·Working knowledge of various codes, standards and regulations in design development and construction and construction law, specifically related to bidding and tendering
·Exceptional leadership capabilities with a focus on empowering employees
·Ability to effectively manage multiple demands, resolve conflicts and meet deadlines in an environment of constant change
·Previous experience working within a government agency, ministry, Crown Corporation or the public sector is considered an asset
