THE POSITION
Based at either the Toronto head office or any of the regional offices in Montreal, Burnaby or Halifax, this role will report directly to the VP Pricing and dotted line to the VP Marketing Canada. The Director Marketing Operations and Pricing is a pivotal and influential role that leads the organization in the discipline of understanding our market and deploying strategic marketing plans that enable cross functional efforts. The ideal candidate will strengthen our client-centric culture to improve sales, share, retention, and lifetime client value.
The Director of Marketing Operations and Pricing is an individual contributor but one who works closely and partner with peers across the organization including Corporate Marketing, Canadian Marketing team, Sales, Strategy, Product and Finance to drive pricing, bundling strategies and our go to market approach. They will drive the measurement of marketing impact across all areas of marketing including campaigns, product marketing, and digital.
Key Responsibilities
The Director Marketing Operations and Pricing will be responsible for all facets of marketing operations in Canada as well as pricebook, promotions and discounting, and will collaborate with a cross functional leadership and the stakeholder community to:
  • Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business.
  • Organizes the system of marketing management and communicates the impact to the cross functional leadership.
  • Develop and execute options / frameworks and regular price / packaging tests to optimize customer acquisition and LTV
  • Drive, organize and communicate the performance metrics of the impact of marketing on sales, share, sales cycles, close rates, awareness, etc.
  • Anticipates internal and or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues
  • Provide insights on the pricing implications including promotion construction and discounting.
  • Recommends process, research and measurement improvements.
  • Manage marketing technology investment as well as industry memberships.
  • Reduce price structure complexity and suggest ways to simplify solutions
  • Leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives.
  • Contributes to the development of each segment go to market strategy.
  • Stays abreast of leading-edge pricing practices and opportunities for execution in the Canadian market.
  • Engages in both annual strategic and operational planning for the business unit and the marketing and sales subsets.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Business Administration, or the equivalent in education and experience, required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in driving pricing analysis including pricing elasticity, market relevant inputs and dynamic pricing.
  • Candidate is approachable, possesses exceptional listening skills and is intuitively responsive to the needs of different stakeholders. A values-driven leader with an innate ability to effectively inspire and work through others. Authentic, self-aware with an engaging personality who is resilient.
  • Strong attention to detail, data research, analyzing large datasets, developing robust models to inform business decisions, and communicating methodology and insights to non-technical audiences
  • Requires in-depth pricing and performance measurement knowledge and experience. Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business issues to improve sales and retention. Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions. Works independently, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Knowledge of payroll products and payroll industry preferred.
  • Experience in leading strategic planning initiatives.
  • A track record of stakeholder engagement using data and business acumen driving alignment on pricing and promotions.
  • Experience leading projects, possess excellent organizational and time management skills for managing multiple, diverse and conflicting activities.
  • Applies the understanding of industry technology, terminology, workflow and structure to recommendations, strategies, problem solving, communication, training, and implementation.
  • Experience working in and leading a high growth business, demonstrate agility and be able to work well under pressure.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Bilingualism (English and French) would be an asset.
  • Understanding of the structure, products, service delivery models and economics of a Service industry is critical.
  • Experience with price models, price setting, price realization, promotional spending, pricing experiments, and bundling
  • Ability and experience to manage senior or executive level relationships, and possess knowledge of the marketplace and competitive landscape.
  • 10+ years of marketing operations, business performance and pricing leadership background gained in fast paced and complex technology driven businesses of relevant size and scope.
