Director Of Youth Protection

Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Youth Protection is responsible for all the duties relative to the application of the Youth Protection Act (YPA), the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), and for the legislative provisions regarding Adoption in collaboration with the network instances and with the other sectors (education, justice, community organizations, etc.).
As the social and clinical authority, the Director of Youth Protection, in compliance with the actual Laws promotes the needs of the children and young people and defends their rights and interests in the seven communities of the Hudson Bay, in Nunavik. He(She) also works in collaboration with the Regional Board of Health and Social Services and ensures the good application of the Law and the good organization of services in accordance with the minister’s expectations and with the specific needs of the population in matter of youth protection.
Qualifications
Hold a bachelor degree in a relevant field
Hold a master degree in a relevant field will be considered as an asset
Experience Required
Have 10 years of relevant experience including 5 years as a manager
Essential Skills And Aptitudes
Knowledge of the social and administrative laws and rules governing practices under the YPA, YCJA, adoption and LSSSS
Clear vision of the social issues related to young people in difficulty and their family
Engaging Leadership with strong communication and concertation skills
Strategic Management Ability
Excellent team player

Wage classification is a class 43, function 351 for the management personnel of the Health and Social Services network
Isolation premium of $9,332, without dependents, or $18,732, with dependents
Cargo allowance of $,0 626 per year per dependent
Retention bonus: $6,000 for the first year
Furnished housing provided
Up to 16 weeks of absence per year

The Inuulitsivik Health Centre (IHC) is an organization that provides health and social services to a population of approximately 8,000 people in seven communities on the Hudson Bay coast of Nunavik, in Northern Quebec.
The mission of the ISC is to contribute to the improvement of the overall health, physical and mental well-being of the communities through the provision of care and services that cover the missions of health promotion and prevention, physical health, mental health, loss of autonomy support and rehabilitation, social services and youth protection.
In addition, the ISC promotes the success of Inuit in accessing and maintaining employment within its organization.
