The centralized Project Development office in Toronto serves as the backbone of our project management strategy, providing support and coordination for our ongoing projects in Canada, Argentina, Australia, and Japan. The Projects Management Team, is responsible for establishing best-in-class project standards, promoting knowledge sharing, and facilitating coordination across our regional execution teams.

About the role
The Director of Studies reports to the Chief Technical services and works in collaboration with Allkem's global team to implement and monitor priority mandates, with the goal of achieving the company's development vision and strategic objectives. The incumbent plays a key role in planning, managing studies, and developing Allkem projects in North America. They provide strategic guidance related to key issues and project progression for all major projects. Key mandates include:
- Question assumptions and foster innovation to deliver the best results for Allkem.
- Plan, direct, and control activities related to project execution, including the schedule, costs, continuous improvement, and quality of preliminary economic studies (PEA), prefeasibility studies (PFS), and feasibility studies (FS), and collaborate on the organizational strategic plan to optimize investment management and minimize risks.
- Ensure the achievement of goals for each project under your responsibility, adhere to schedules and budgets.
- Design and implement effective methodologies, practices, and technologies to maximize team efficiency.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, continuous improvement processes, governance rules, and the strategic and thematic aspects of Lithium production projects, including project progression, due diligence processes, and compliance that contribute to the achievement of our organizational goals.
- Ensure the writing, revision, and implementation of study reports, monthly as well as the annual statistical reports related to the studies and edit presentations to present to senior management and/or the board of directors.
- Implement project development strategies and plan the execution of engineering studies related to these projects until the start of detailed engineering.
- Define the goals and priorities of your department based on the general management's strategic plan and the respective service issues and submit mandates to the directions under your governance.
- Take on any other tasks and responsibilities related to your function or that may be entrusted to you and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Ensure effective and continuous engagement of stakeholders to facilitate cooperation and alignment through good relationship management between Allkem operations, the PMO group, and all stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor teams within the framework of priority mandates and maintain business relationships with senior management globally, employees, subcontractors, consultants, and all other stakeholders in the studies.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Experience in database management, KPI development and management, and project management.
- Bachelor's degree or a master's degree in engineering, mining engineering, project management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant Global experience, including at least 5 years of managing personnel and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience in estimating and scheduling, using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.
- Bilingual (French and English) with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Strong Health and Safety leadership with a focus on process culture.
