Work Arrangements
The PEFA Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking a probationary, regular, half-time faculty member to deliver four sections of existing Film Studies courses: PEFA 1116 (Introduction to Film Studies) and PEFA 1216 (Canadian Film Studies).
Workload is assigned each year based on available sections.

The Role
Regular Probationary Faculty – Film Studies Instructor
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
  • Participate in curriculum revision and maintain currency of PEFA Film Studies courses;
  • Maintain currency in the field through professional development.
  • Committee work; and
  • Plan, organize, and manage learner-centred instruction and activities;
  • Assess and evaluate students’ progress and achievement;
  • Teach Film Studies at a foundational level, adapting instruction to open-enrollment students who may or may not have prior experience;
  • Participate in curriculum development for new courses such as Documentary Film Studies;
  • Attend meetings, share in departmental responsibilities, and participate in
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
  • A strong commitment to Department and College service.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Initiative, creativity, and self-directedness; and
  • A demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse adult learners, including English Language Learners and students with learning differences;
  • Evidence of recent film-making activity to demonstrate an understanding of practical motion picture production methods;
  • A record of successful teaching of Film Studies at the post-secondary level;
  • A Master’s Degree or PhD in Film Studies or related field;
