Position: Digital Media Specialist
Location: Legislative Assembly of Ontario
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience (65-70k)
Hours of Work: 40 hours per week. Overtime as required.
Position overview
With a minimum of three years of progressive experience in photography and video production, you bring a fresh and exciting approach to photography, design, and video editing. You have exceptional production skills and enjoy working under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
As the Digital Media Specialist, you will:
Photography:
- Be able to adapt to any situation, event, or project while being able to determine the best solutions on site.
- Create content with an exceptional range of creative, technical, and documentary imagery.
- Possess basic photography skills for event-style images, including posed and candid shots that skillfully capture a moment.
- Be able to use photo manipulation software such as Adobe Suite to get desired results.
- Maintain and use equipment such as cameras, computers, flash, lights, and tripods.
- Be able to work in fast paced environment with emphasis on being detail-oriented, organization and meeting steep deadlines.
Video & Editing:
- Use Adobe Creative Suite to edit video and/or still images into video as required for each project.
- Maintain quick turnaround times for video projects and liaise with appropriate offices to confirm requirements/meet deadlines.
- Be equally comfortable offsite and in studio, shooting beautiful, compelling footage of the Premier, Ministers and MPPs at events and announcements.
Qualifications / Position Requirements
- Online portfolio showcasing range of skills with still photography and including a video project reel
- Working knowledge of Sony cameras
- Understanding of video optimization for all social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license
- Adept in all areas of video production including shooting, lighting, audio
- Passionate about working in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
- 3 to 5 years of experience in video/digital field
- Willing to travel frequently across Ontario
- Fully competent working in Adobe Creative Suite
- Expert proficiency with Photoshop, Premier Pro, Lightroom
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Keen attention to detail
Assets / Nice-to-have
- Post-secondary education with an emphasis on photography/video production standards is preferred
- Interest in politics or political background would be considered an asset
- Social Media marketing background would be helpful
- Degree in Marketing, Media, Communications, or related discipline
