Development Technician I, Contract - 7 Months - To January 7, 2024

We are recruiting for a Development Technician I - Temporary contract until January 7, 2024 - for our production facility in Kanata, Ontario.
Job Summary
Assists in troubleshooting, custom maintenance and repairs, project activities and research for technical support and development. Assembles equipment and runs tests and experiments. Assists in commissioning new processes, products, equipment and facilities .
Work Performed

• Assists in commissioning new processes, produc ts facilities and equipment.
• Assembles eguipment, runs and performs experiments to established drawings, specifications and procedures. Gathers data for analysis and reports results, Assists in writing reports.
• Assists in troubleshooting eguipment and facilities. Assists in custom maintenance and r-epairs of equipment.
• Provides technical advice as directed.
• Assists on consulting jobs.
• Performs tasks associated with process techni c al support and new process or product development projects as directed.

Education And Experience
Technologist Diploma (3 years), plus 3 years of relevant technical experience.
Knowledge And Abilities

• Must be familiar with Company policies and procedures.
• A basic knowledge of personal computers is desirable.
• Must be able to read and comprehend drawings, schematics, specifications and technical literature.
• Must be resourceful, creative, and objective.
• Must be knowledgeable about radiation and industrial hazards and the techniques to reduce these hazards.
• Must be able to build processes and equipment from designs.

RECOMMENDATIONS AND DECISIONS:

• Recommends need for routine maintenance, repair or replacement.
• Technical decisions in the performance of routine assignments.

Consequence Of Errors
Technical errors may lead to out-of-specification products, mi ss ed deadlines for projects and customer orders, incorrect assessment of development projects and technical support activities, inadequate or malfunctioning equipment. In activities involving radioactivity, radiation, high voltage, toxicity or other hazards to self, fellow employees and general public.
Communications

• Must be able to describe results to supervision
• Normal communications with other groups.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR SUPERVISION: None
WORKING CONDITIONS AND OTHER DISTINGUISHING ASPECTS:

• Frequently working with radioactive materials and processes.
• Works in laboratory and production environment, subject to laboratory and industrial safety and health hazards while performing processes and procedures.
• Overtime may be required.
• Classed as a Nuclear Energy Worker.
