Development Officer - Mat-leave contract until January 31, 2024.
A Development Officer for a non-profit organization is responsible for building relationships with donors/stakeholders, identifying potential grant opportunities, writing grant proposals, and managing the grant application process.
Responsibilities
As a Fund Development Officer, your responsibilities include supporting the Manager in various funding priorities, including annual giving, monthly giving, leadership and major gifts, corporate development, legacy giving, events, and stewardship. You will also need to build and maintain a portfolio of 100 or more prospects and continually make measurable moves in identifying, researching, cultivating, and soliciting top prospects.
Another key aspect of your role will be researching and identifying potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations, corporations, and other sources. You will need to prepare grant proposals and letters of inquiry that clearly articulate the organization's mission, goals, and programs, and collaborate with program staff to gather information and data needed for grant applications.
In addition to this, you will be responsible for submitting grant applications and following up with grant-making organizations as needed. You will also be tasked with managing and tracking the status of all grant applications, reporting deadlines, and deliverables while maintaining accurate records of all grant-related activities.
To effectively carry out these responsibilities, you must prepare regular reports on the status of grant applications and the organization's overall grant activities. You'll also need to stay up-to-date on grant-making trends and best practices to succeed in this role.
Qualifications
·Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English, communications, or non-profit management
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Strong research and analytical skills
·Knowledge of fundraising strategies and techniques
·Proficiency in Microsoft Office
·Minimum of 2 years of managing a profile of 100 donor prospects and experience supporting fundraising programs
·Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
·Track record of engaging with donors through various mediums
·Strong customer service skills and ability to think creatively
·Experience with CRM system or Donor Perfect preferred
·Must be available for occasional evening and weekend meetings
·Access to a vehicle and valid Ontario driver's license
·All staff are required to be full vaccinated, and provide copy of the vaccination
