Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Clean Fuels Design Authority will be the overall senior technical engineering authority for HTEC’s hydrogen production and liquefaction facilities. While part of the engineering functional department, this senior technical leader will work very closely with the Clean Fuels Business Unit, that is working to develop and operate hydrogen electrolysis plants and liquefaction facilities to provide low-carbon intensity hydrogen as a transportation fuel for our growing network of fueling stations. The successful candidate will have experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects, ideally with direct experience designing industrial plants in the oil and gas or clean fuels industry. This role is equivalent to a Chief Engineer in other organizations. The successful candidate will provide overall technical expertise on specific facilities under development, while developing engineering standards and business procedures that align with our core business. This role is located in our Vancouver office.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in cryogenic gas handling along with an Engineering degree and registration as a PEng within a Canadian Province.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure design controls are in place and followed; review and approve QMS validation protocols prior to, and after execution
- Oversee the technical project set up, approve design decisions through the development phase, and provide final review and sign-off on a project design basis
- Participate in key project design review meetings
- Support project development; technical scope, schedule, and budgets
- Responsible for overall project design work
- Responsible for continuous product improvement (research and development)
- Develop and update engineering design guidelines (systems development)
- Provide technical leadership and peer mentoring
- Responsible for technical adequacy of final product
- Establish design requirements and ensure design output meets design basis
- Final sign off on design, risk and quality
Qualifications:
- Experience designing and / or operatingcryogenic gas handling plants is required
- Must have valid work authorization in Canada
- Experience working within cross functional teams
- Experience overseeing technically complex projects
- Strong background in hydrogen is preferred
- Proficient with MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project)
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or other relevant engineering field
- Minimum of 15 years of experience within an Engineering role, with P.Eng. designation
