At HTEC we’re unlocking the potential of hydrogen to reduce climate change and air pollution. Based in Vancouver, we design, build, and operate hydrogen fuel supply solutions to support the deployment of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. Every day, we’re delivering safe, reliable, convenient, sustainable, and low-cost hydrogen to customers and consumers. How, when, and where they need it.

We run a values-based business so fit comes first. Sure, we’ve got a list of knowledge, skills, and abilities we’re looking for in a successful candidate, and we lay those out below. But making sure our values align is critical. Read our values and if we are a match and you can deliver on the job responsibilities and requirements, we hope to hear from you!

Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, the Clean Fuels Design Authority will be the overall senior technical engineering authority for HTEC’s hydrogen production and liquefaction facilities. While part of the engineering functional department, this senior technical leader will work very closely with the Clean Fuels Business Unit, that is working to develop and operate hydrogen electrolysis plants and liquefaction facilities to provide low-carbon intensity hydrogen as a transportation fuel for our growing network of fueling stations. The successful candidate will have experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects, ideally with direct experience designing industrial plants in the oil and gas or clean fuels industry. This role is equivalent to a Chief Engineer in other organizations. The successful candidate will provide overall technical expertise on specific facilities under development, while developing engineering standards and business procedures that align with our core business. This role is located in our Vancouver office.

  • Support project development; technical scope, schedule, and budgets
  • Responsible for overall project design work
  • Responsible for continuous product improvement (research and development)
  • Develop and update engineering design guidelines (systems development)
  • Provide technical leadership and peer mentoring
  • Responsible for technical adequacy of final product
  • Establish design requirements and ensure design output meets design basis
  • Final sign off on design, risk and quality

Qualifications:

  • Experience designing and / or operatingcryogenic gas handling plants is required
  • Must have valid work authorization in Canada
  • Experience working within cross functional teams
  • Experience overseeing technically complex projects
  • Strong background in hydrogen is preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Project)
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Degree in Chemical / Process Engineering or other relevant engineering field
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience within an Engineering role, with P.Eng. designation
