Profile
The Course & Curriculum Developer will work cross-functionally with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to develop and maintain clear and concise curricula for industrial functions. The curricula will be developed to utilize in-person, online, and blended learning formats. The role is responsible for designing, modifying, and maintaining existing resources and developing new programs to improve and enhance the overall training experience and provide initial and recurrent learning for employees.
Key Accountabilities
  • Ensure accurate training records, including applicable licenses and certifications, are stored within a centralized LMS and distribute reports as required.
  • Assess training gaps and develop strategic plans and programs to address those gaps.
  • Maintain current curriculum for all approved training and a summary of curriculum changes to support the organizational master syllabus and regulatory requirements
  • In partnership with key internal stakeholders, carry out audit functions to ensure compliance with the Transport Canada-approved Training policies.
  • Work with SMEs to understand the competencies required to work in the various roles. This work will include understanding the work De Havilland will be taking on internally, the work required in a variety of roles, the tools and equipment required to be used in those roles, and all competencies required to carry out those duties.
  • Utilize the LMS system to report on ROI, KPI, and DE&I and measure the success of training and development initiatives.
  • Lead the development of fulsome training programs; create training facilities with appropriate equipment and materials, OTJ training and assessment procedures, screening or testing requirements for participants entering the program, assessment criteria for measuring the competency of participants against learning outcomes, and any other program elements.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development staff and other leadership to determine performance and training needs.
  • Work cross-functionally with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to support future technical programs: new program development, program evaluation, course maintenance, and process documentation.
  • Ensure training programs outlined in the Company's Transport Canada Approved Maintenance Policy Manual are followed to certify full compliance with the current Canadian Aviation Regulations
  • Support the implementation of companywide training programs and initiatives (new hires, enhancements, etc.)
  • Ensure that each training program is developed with the appropriate objectives and outcomes, and instructor material is professionally prepared and supports the overall curriculum and company training standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality and HSE team to plan, manage and maintain training records described in the Quality Manual and ensure our processes comply with Canadian Aviation Regulation 561 and Standard 563, Industry Standard AS9100, and customer requirements.
Education and Experience
  • 10+ years of working experience in a technical / leadership role within the aviation industry.
  • Prior curriculum/training program development and delivery experience in an industrial setting
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Experience in assessing training needs/requirements.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining technical and industrial training programs is considered a significant asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent years of experience in Aerospace Training
Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to draft professional, thorough, accurate reports and other departmental communications.
  • Demonstrated team player with exemplary interpersonal skills, able to work independently when necessary in a department with ever-changing priorities.
  • Proven success in multi-tasking, strategic and creative planning and prioritizing, and strong attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power BI, Outlook, and Word).
  • Prior aviation experience with a working knowledge of CARs is an asset.
