Job Description

CURRICULUM DEVELOPER,
RESEARCH AND ACADEMIC INNOVATION
NorQuesters are difference makers and we’re searching for someone dedicated to making a difference to join our Research and Academic Innovation team as a Curriculum Developer. The successful candidate will embody our intentional values of being dependable, boldly curious and intentionally courageous, while being passionate about quality curriculum design and skilled with agile processes.
Reporting to the Unity Higher Ed XR grant Project Lead, this position would be responsible for reviewing the existing curriculum for Unity Technologies, Essentials, and Jr. Programmer pathways, and creating a sample of the changes that would be seen upon application of a neuroinclusion framework created by NorQuest College. This framework and sample would apply a universal design and then be used to create additional resources including a curriculum map, as well as teacher resources and tips for teaching this curriculum to a class of neurodiverse individuals. In turn, these resources would then be shared and reviewed by an established advisory committee and any feedback would be reviewed and incorporated if required. This is a casual position.
How You'll Make a Difference
  • Implement any revisions to Resources as required for final submission.
  • Create curriculum map for Neuroinclusion curriculum.
  • Review the Unity Technologies Jr. Programmer Pathway.
  • Take part in feedback/review meetings with established Advisory Committee members.
  • Review the Unity Technologies Essentials Curriculum Pathway.
  • Utilizing the Neuroinclusion Framework, apply it to existing Unity curriculum to create a sample of how changes would be made.
  • Create educator planning and tip sheets to assist those instructors who have never worked with neurodiverse populations.
What You Bring
  • Experience teaching neurodiverse learners.
  • 3+ years teaching experience.
  • Experience using and/or teaching using a Learning Management System (Blackboard, Moodle).
  • 3+ years of experience in designing curricula, preferably in a post-secondary environment.
  • Thorough understanding of instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices.
  • A Master's Degree in Education with specialization in instructional design and/or curriculum development or an equivalent level of credentials and experience.
  • Solid understanding of e-learning content delivery technologies.
  • Knowledge of universal instructional design principles.
  • If your education was received internationally we recommend you obtain an international education assessment through IQAS , WES , or one of the other nationally designated organizations.
What Makes You a Difference Maker
As a difference maker you bring:
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience managing various projects with varied complexities and outcomes simultaneously.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Diplomatic and proactive problem-solving skills.
SALARY: This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined. This opportunity also includes 11.2% in lieu of vacation and benefits.
We offer flexible work options. We strive for balance between a flexible work environment, connectedness to the campus community, and ensuring NorQuesters are set up to succeed in their roles and responsibilities.

Difference Makers. If we were to describe what NorQuest College is, we’d say these two words. We are so fundamentally driven in our mission to make a difference to our students, our community, and to our fellow NorQuesters, that it guides what we do, who we meet, and where we are headed.
So how do we make differences?
  • We unlock potential. Whether its newcomers to Canada who want to improve their English, students who want to complete their academic upgrading, learners pursuing post-secondary education, or anyone who wishes to strengthen their skills through professional development, our passion to educate touches people of all levels and all backgrounds.
  • We strengthen Alberta. From our graduates who hit the ground running, to our partnerships with government, industry, and business, to our commitment to communities, including a dedicated focus on Indigenous communities, we contribute to our province and make it stronger. We strive to be an employer of choice for First Nations, Metis and Inuit people in Canada by leading, supporting, and being an ally through our work toward decolonization, reconciliation, and Indigenization.
  • We empower NorQuesters. When it comes to working, it’s up to you to decide where (on campus or from another location) and how you work. NorQuesters are expected to embody our Qs—lead from where you are, be dependable, find ways forward—to name a few, but how you do that is your choice!
And that’s a snapshot of how we are Difference Makers. But there’s so much more to us and we invite you to explore further !
