OceanaGold is seeking a motivated Vancouver-based Controller - FP&A to lead all group accounting and financial functions related to internal and external financial reporting for a publicly traded company. The role is responsible for consolidated budgeting, forecasting, and reporting both against budget and prior periods, work collaboratively with site teams across the business and drive ongoing improvement and knowledge share.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

• Assess and support capital valuations and analysis in line with the Corporation’s investment strategy and policies, including financial assessment (cost vs benefit) of initiatives and prioritization against business cases (ROI, FCF, NPV and pay-back).
• Executing the monthly close process and preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports (including the quarterly management discussion & analysis) for internal management reporting and external reporting to shareholders and other stakeholders.
• Maintaining the consolidated corporate financial model with input from technical services, mine site commercial/finance, treasury and other departments.
• Establish effective and continuous communication with operations management to provide support and ensure accurate capital reporting
• Coordinating and ensuring the completion of the annual external audit efficiently and effectively, as well as enquiries or audits from tax authorities, where appropriate.
• Preparing consolidated annual budget and periodic forecasts.
• Consolidating annual budget, forecasts and analyzing of corporate administrative costs.
• Leading and overseeing the capital expenditure approval process (AFE) and facilitate Group Capital Review Committee.
• Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of financial information contained in annual information filings including proxy circulars.
• Analyzing and preparing production and cost variance reports related to periodic reporting.
• Assisting the CFO/VP Finance in maintaining relevant financial records for Management, Board of Directors and External Stakeholders

Qualifications

• Maintain high standards of discretion and integrity and show the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and sensitivity.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Bachelors and/or master’s degree in business administration
• Possess flexibility and adaptability to manage changing work priorities and varying volumes of work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• 10 years of experience in the accounting and finance sector managing accountants and financial processes. Post graduate studies would also be well regarded for this role particularly CA.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multi-task, solve problems, manage and meet deadlines and maintain a high quality of work.
• Advance skills in Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
• Very strong team orientation with a willingness to assist others.
