Construction Manager Jobs

We are looking for a Construction Manager to join our rapidly growing Multi-Family Division Calgary team. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Construction Manager is an energetic, proactive, and multi-skilled team member responsible for efficiently planning, organizing, and directing the building process of all new homes for Rohit Communities in Calgary. The Construction Manager strives to achieve company objectives while maintaining balance between cost, time, quality, and safety.

What will you do?

Maintain Trade Relationships

• Coordinates and schedules trade and supply logistics.
• Schedules work to Rohit best practices, building code, and safety requirements.
• Delivers and inspects all work by trades and team.
• Maintains and grows trade relationships for value and innovation.
• Recruits trades, team, and vendors in alignment with Rohit goals.
• Sets goals and manages direct team and trades.

Ensure Customer Satisfaction

• Inspects homes and sites in jurisdiction to rate and recognize production risks and solutions to mitigate problems.
• Checks trade quality and material usage to specifications and budget.
• Strives to exceed customer satisfaction ratings to corporate targets.
• Assists Company with future product and process improvement.
• Updates delivery status and shares with customer and company using Rohit practices.

Provide Team Leadership

• Exceeds start and closing goals for projects.
• Reports critical activities consistently.
• Ensures team completes and complies with all safety and construction processes.
• Builds strong working relationships within direct teams and across multiple disciplines, liaises with head office.
• Attracts and trains Site Superintendents and construction staff.
• Verifies field variance purchase orders and identifies improvements to achieve targets.

Service Delivery

• Assures quality of all homes built throughout stages of construction.
• Anticipates team and project needs and arranges resources accordingly.
• Reviews delivery successes and improvement opportunities with team, suppliers, and trades.
• Maintains knowledge of contracts, contract status, and negotiations with trades and suppliers.
• Understands financial metrics for the business and strives to increase profitability.
• Other duties as required.
• Consistently reduces, and improves upon, VPO’s, cycle times, and deficiencies as per corporate targets.
• Develops key processes and systems to accomplish speed/quality/cost reductions across the entire business with disciplined consistency.

What do we look for?

• Exceptional organization, prioritization, problem solving and communication skills.
• Applied experience in project management, construction management, and construction processes, building code and safety codes.
• Demonstrated aptitude to work with all levels of employees, trades, and suppliers.
• At least 5 years’ experience in single and multi-family residential construction. Commercial construction experience is an asset.
• Completion of Civil/Construction Engineering Technologist diploma/BSc. and/or Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter trade certification.
• Aptitude in use of technology such as Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and construction / scheduling technologies.
