Construction Manager Jobs

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a focus on client relations for our Leduc Construction Office.

T echnical Duties and Essential Functions are as follows:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to listen and communicate effectively and respectfully
• Delegate tasks to the construction supervision team to effectively manage project needs and deadlines
• Lead and participate in construction planning and progress meetings, responding and adapting to changing conditions
• Respond to customer needs while promoting a safe workplace and meeting quality, budgetary and schedule requirements
• Act as a role model for Wood’s safety program. Encouraging full participation of all employees, at all times
• Follow all company and site-specific safety rules. Working within the Company’s Safety Program at all times, maintaining behaviour-based safety essentials and adherence to the Life Saving Rules. Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc.
• Regularly review all aspects of project progress, ensuring compliance with contractual requirements, construction and safety codes and local laws
• Able to interpret, understand and explain contract terms and project requirements to team members
• Utilize Advanced Work Packages to direct construction activities
• Perform other duties as required
• Motivate, mentor, develop and direct employees throughout the workday
• Work with the Quality Department, ensuring that all aspects of the project meet required specifications
• Liaise with Construction Team, Management, and Customer representatives to ensure safe and successful execution of all project goals.

Successful candidates for this position will be required to work on site when required. Project assignments will be issued that may involve camp, travel, shift work and LOA. Candidates who are not willing or able to work on project assignments will not be selected.

Skills / Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or civil engineering or equivalent education in a relevant field OR a Red Seal Journeyperson Certification in a related trade.

Minimum of 5+ years in Construction Management or related field

Excellent Leadership And Interpersonal Communication Skills Are Required

Experience in building successful client-contractor relationships

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Experience with progress measurement software and 3D model reviews

Extensive knowledge of established construction and maintenance practices, procedures, and techniques as well as applicable local, provincial, and Canadian codes

Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and tools and proficiency in skilled construction and maintenance

Strong commitment to Construction Safety

Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources

Applicable knowledge of Advanced Work Packaging Best Practices

Must pass a Drug and Alcohol Test as required by the client
