We are seeking a Construction Coordinator to join our Construction Management team. The successful candidate will report to the Area Construction Lead and support the North Atlantic Surface Projects and Studies Group.
The Coordinator will support and assist the Area Lead by  facilitating  the  day  to  day  linkage  with  the  ongoing  operations  and  maintenance  personnel at the Vale Plant supporting our Vale’s Project Office in Copper Cliff, ON (part of Greater City of Sudbury). This position will be responsible for supporting the Vale construction team in planning, coordination and execution of work on time, within budget and quality requirements and in a zero-harm environment.

Your role within the team: 
  • Report to owner’s project management team on all matters relating to construction in his/her area.  Plan the integration between the construction completion activities and commissioning activities ensuring clear responsibilities are defined between construction contractors, vendor representatives, and commissioning teams for successful handover of construction activities to commissioning. 
  • Conduct detailed constructability reviews of engineering drawings and specifications during the project design phase. 
  • Assist in the construction contract bidder pre-qualification, tendering, logistics plans, contractor selection processes, preservation plans for construction related equipment and materials as required. 
  • Explore and identify additional opportunities for preassembly and modularization. 
  • Manage the construction process and employees in the SP&S area of accountability. 
  • Participate in and contribute to the development of a Construction Execution Plan and schedule for the area and for the total site. 
  • Understand, implement and promote Vale’s SHE Policies and Procedures.

The ideal candidate: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Working knowledge of project cost and schedule desired including use of scheduling tools like MS
  • 7 + year’s relevant experience in project coordination, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance in utilities, facilities environment.
  • Experience with field works related to Quality programs and monitoring contractors site progress.
