Job Description

Job Summary

The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Education, Culture, and Language Director. The position uses strategic communication practices to ensure key messages are consistent, clear and aligned with Athabasca Tribal Council’s mission, goals and objectives. The incumbent will be responsible for the organization’s internal and external communications along with initiatives such as the social media stratregy, and supporting logistics for ATC events when needed. Ongoing monitoring of social media, news briefs, and emails on evenings and weekends will be required.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist with event logistics as needed.
  • Measure social media reach and impact.
  • Develop and implement a cohesive social media strategy for ATC events, programs, and campaigns.
  • Build relationships with external stakeholders including government representatives, companies, and other news networks.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Provides support to the management team with identifying marketing opportunities, development of communication materials, presentations, events, and special projects.
  • Lead responsibility for drafting content for print, daily news briefs, and digital platforms with support from management.
  • Develop fresh, trending, educational, and on-brand content for ATC’s social media accounts such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, TikTok.
  • Maintain and grow social media audiences through proactive and reactive community management strategies.
  • Ensure ATC participation in third-party events is recognized by creating and preserving Logo and Visual Identity Guidelines.


Qualifications

  • Ability to speak Dene/Cree an asset.
  • Intermediate level knowledge in Adobe Creative Suites and MS Office.
  • Strong communication, research, analytical and writing skills, including the ability to develop key messaging.
  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, or related field.
  • Experience with social media platforms which includes building analytical reports.
  • High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • 2 or more years of professional experience developing internal/external communications, branded digital and social media content.


Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean Driver’s Abstract.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector.
  • Clear Intervention Record Check.
