Civil Project Lead/Manager

SBM is seeking an intermediate Civil Project Manager/Lead (PL) to join the Civil Division in our London office. Reporting to the Civil Division Manager, the successful candidate will be required to manage and lead projects, review (and seal if applicable) their own and others design work, direct and mentor the design team in coordination with other PLs, etc. for land development (private and public sector) projects across Ontario including subdivisions, apartment buildings, commercial developments, Municipal work including road reconstructions, parking lot replacements, etc. The candidate will work alongside other technologists, engineers and project leads to ensure successful completion of projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• When required, coordinate/review/assist field staff with site investigations, general reviews of construction, and preparation of field review reports
• Review designs and drawings to ensure accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the design
• When required, preparation/review of tender/contract documents and act as contract administrator
• Design of civil infrastructure including site servicing, grading, stormwater management quantity and quality controls, including Best Management Practices (BMP) and Low Impact Development (LID), watermains, storm sewer, sanitary sewer, noise studies, etc.
• Preparation of Civil Engineering Design and Documents for projects such as subdivisions, site plans, road reconstructions, parking lot replacements, etc.
• Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion
• Coordinate daily team priorities to achieve project milestones while collaborating with other project leads
• Project management duties including assisting with proposals, responsible for projects from the initiating to closing phases, and being the main point of contact with project stakeholders both internally and externally
• Coordinate all aspects of projects with several discipline’s designs and drawings
• Provide technical guidance to technologists and junior staff

Skills / Qualifications:

• Capable of working on and/or managing several projects at the same time and with the projects in different stages
• Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities to motivate all levels of staff
• PMP designation considered an asset
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
• Experience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code, and other applicable Canadian Engineering standards
• Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering or relevant discipline OR Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited Canadian University/College or equivalent required.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) OR Limited Licence through the PEO or will acquire within 6 months
• Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suites. Preference will be given to candidates with Civil3D experience
• 4+ years of experience in Civil Engineering preferred, with a focus on consulting/design and project leading
• Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities
• Knowledge of engineering software related with Civil engineering (EPANET, MIDUSS, EPA SWMM, PCSWMM, others) considered an asset

Compensation:

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary and annual performance bonus. The successful candidate will typically work 8am-5pm Monday-Thursday and 8am-2:30pm on Fridays.
